Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Sony has designed this player so it cannot have the region code changed, it is hard wired into the board as part of their copy protection scheme.
Most users have rated this player as 'junk' (sorry to be the bearer of bad news) and should be replaced.
Maybe you can sell it on Ebay.
My suggestion is that the less expensive the player the better off you will be in the long run as the cheaper brands and models use DVD drives meant for PCs and Macs. More expensive models have proprietary drives, such as Sony, and cannot be manipulated and are not very versatile in recording media and or playing copyright hacked copies of DVDs even if you own the original DVD but has been scratched.
The courts are still trying to figure out these protection measures as they are not fair use in terms of you the owner of a DVD and wanting to make your own backup copy for the kids to use.

SOURCE: sony dvd player cant eject disk
Actually if all you want is the dvd, there is a plastic cover on the underside of the dvd player below the dvd tray. Open it from the tab like a door and inside the slot you'll see a little black lever that you have to move with a small screwdriver or something like that....then slide the lever over towards the power button. If you don't feel comfortable doing this next step please bring it to some one that is familiar withit or a repair shop !!!!!!!!PLEASE UNPLUG BEFORE MOVING ON!!!!!!!!! Now if ya wanna fix the "LOCKED" error and unplugging it doesn't help, you have to take the top case of the dvd player (six screws and slide it back.....the case might get caught on the plug on the back so slightly lift it above it. Then once you have the cover off, with the front of the dvd player facing you...unplug the connector that is on the left hand side of the dvd tray that connects to the circuit board with firm and straight up pressure.....pull (it is ok to pull from the wires, just grab in the middle). Now you might have to plug in the power for the dvd player with that connector unplugged but do so with caution!!!!!......if ya want just put the cover back on without the screws on and just press power a couple of times.....then remove the power cord from the wall, take your case off, reattach the connector.......you'll here it kinda snap back in, make sure you put the connect back on the same way, it really only goes in one way, the prongs are more to one side. then slide your cover back on making sure you lift the back of the cover over the power cord on the back and the put your screws back in and your done.......this should solve both your problems. I think my kid was messing around with mine too!!
