USB 2.0 ports 1, and 2. These two 4-pin Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports are available for connecting USB 2.0 devices.

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers

right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working

ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts

is the mouse a usb or ps2 mouse
if its a usb mouse and not working you might have to use a ps2 mouse
or try it in safe mode
restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse
allowing you to attempt to repair your computer

How do i install windows 7 using pen drive on Biostar G31 M7 TE mother board

not familiar with that particular board/bios. theres typically an option in the bios (usually F2 etc) for boot devices. you'll need your USB set as a bootable device.

You'll also need a bootable USB drive with the install image (cant just copy the contents of the disc over, it wont work) Heres the MS tool: Windows USB DVD Download Tool

USB port for wireless mouse gets hot and not working

Hi,
1-try to connect another USB peripheral like USB flash or something else,if this does happen again you have some problem with your USB chip or maybe your main board or USB cabling in your laptop (some kind of short circuit),
2-if your problem still did not solve you have some short circuit or problem with your USB device and try repair or replace the device ,
3-if your problem persist and doesn't solve even with another device you must consider this note:

some USB devices needs 500ma current mode that only available in PCs and some devices and most laptop available in the market just support 100ma USB port

My usb ports do not working. When I put my mouse in it, the mouse lights become on but in the desktop the pointer is on its place and no hardware are found.I check 3 more mouse and key boards but the...

Follow the steps given below to refresh USB ports.

1. Right-click My Computer icon on the desktop, and then select Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. Click the Device Manager button.
4. Click the plus (+) sign to the left of Universal Serial Bus controllers.
5. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
6. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.

Please note, repeat Steps 5 and 6 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.

7. Shut down the computer.

CAUTION: Ensure that the Shut Down option is selected, instead of the Restart option.

8. Wait for 5 seconds and then restart the computer. When the computer restarts, a "Windows has detected new or added hardware" message window will open.

The above steps will refresh the USB ports.

Now connect the USB devices like mouse, video camera, your external usb hard disk...usb hubs...whatever you like and the drivers should install automatically.

Tip: It is always recommended to connect the main usb devices at the rear end usb port, as they require more power to initiate.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

When I plug my USB mouse it dosnt work. what should I have to do?

Make sure whether USB ports are working fine or not. Or go to BIOS and check usb devices options enabled. If its enabled , restart your PC. Right click on My computer and go to manage and check device manager. If you see any yellow mark near usb devices or usb root hub you need to install chipset driver for your system mother board. If you are seeing any red mark near usb devices or USB root hub, right click on that and enable the device. If there is no mark and still your mouse doesn't work, issue with either USB ports on mother board or usb mouse.

Hi i have an external HD...Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1 TB...it is working smoothly on my laptop and other computers..however as soon as i want to connect it to my desktop, it is not being detected. My...

Connect some other USB device (keyboard? mouse? memory-stick?) to your desktop?
Are those devices detected? If not, then either:
* the USB port(s) on your desktop are damaged,
* the device-drivers for the USB ports on your desktop are not installed.

Try connecting it to a different desktop/laptop, to see if the Seagate works at all, on any desktop.

Intel d 865 gsa mother board is working but not display no beep what is the problem

i thinks it's not working, check again.....
no display, no beep.....simple symptom of a dead MB

the quality of the MB is all components will work together, even if one component in it fails the MB is dead.....

this rule is not applicable to the following devices in the MB
inbuilt sound cards, or
either of the USB ports or
mouse port, keyboard port

As you can use an external device like a USB sound adaptor insted of the internal sound card for your speaker/sound.
The same goes for mouse and keyboard, you can buy keyboards/mouse that work thru USB
The same is of a USB port, if one of the USB ports fail you have the other ports to use, if all of the USB ports fail then you can use a external USB connector to a LAN port and make the LAN port a USB device.

also.....there is no option..... that you can change one of the components.....they all are embeded in the circuit board, it's cost effective to get a new MB than repair the defective component.....

all the best

My HPG60-235DX notebook keyboard and mouse are not working at all. I can connect a USB mouse and that will work.

Did this happen all of sudden, and was the laptop dropped in anyway. Its possible that the cable connecting them to the laptop has worked loose if so. Other than that try re-installing the drivers for them (Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager).

Unresponsive keyboard + mouse pad

I guess you have a mechanical problem, sounds like the mother board have some issues on starting all devices.

If you could use keyboard to go in the bios, and see the screen, if would be the OS that need to be repaired.
