Hi, my internet has been really weird lately, and it's off and on. Sometimes the internet on my desktop works and sometimes it doesn't. The wifi is weird as well, sometimes it's up and sometimes its not. This morning wifi was working and local area connection was not. Then, during the afternoon, it reversed. I took the cords out of my Motorola AT&T modem and my Airlink101 AR430W router and now I don't know which cords go where. I've tried many combinations but they all aren't providing me with internet on all my devices. I've been getting problems such as PPPOA for my modem, but my modem seems to be fine. All the lights are blinking perfectly. My router seems to be the issue. Please help.

What a static ip is, is the ip address that the router automatically assigns to other equipment. (computers, xbox, ect.) Find D-links customer support line for help.

Try to do a hard reset on the router. Hold down the button on the back of the router for 10 seconds. This will clear all of the settings out of its memory. Then try to connect again. If this doesnt work power down both your router and your cable modem. Let them sit for a minute and then plug in the modem and wait 30 seconds. THen plug in the Wireless router. The issue should resolve itself.

Not sure if I understand properly but your router should have a WAN port or an "Internet" port
your modem should be connected to it and your PC should be on any of the LAN port

Did you call Comcast and give them the new MAC address of the Motorola SB5101 SURFboard cable modem? I'm surpised it works at all without doing this first. This is the hardware address of your modem so the world can see you, no one in the world has the same MAC address, they are all different. It's on a sticker on the modem.

I had this same problem. I was going to go ahead and call ATT and ask them to put my modem into bridge mode, but I messed around a bit more....
I went ahead and turn on PPPoE...tried to run the set up again. Well it worked. Not the internet connection is working through the modem. For some reason, the setup changed PPPoE back to DHCP Client, but it's working now. Give this a shot before calling ATT if you like. Good luck.
