Whirlpool Over range Microwave MH6700XW-0 8 Months ago blew Thermal Fuse. Replaced. Worked since. Yesterday Blew main fuse. Replaced both Thermal and Main fuse. Run through test cycle, everything OK, even heat water. Go to use to make Popcorn, Press START, 'Pop', main fuse blows. Make a 'Slo-Blow' fuse out of solder and try popcorn again. Check for Microwave leakage and distribution in oven. Both OK. Popcorn Pops and oven completes cycle. Check Slo-Blo and no signs of stress. Wait an hour and try popcorn again and Slo-Blo pops 10 seconds in. All Normal Sounds. Is the Magnetron going or could it be suffering from Capacitor Plague? It was manufactured in 1990, so I think the latter is moot. I know it's crazy, but if I can fix it for 50 clams, that's at least 130 clams left to multiply. THX, BuBu
Assuming your power line voltage is okay, it would not surprise me that after 27 years, your high voltage capacitor is drying out and increasing its capacitance. This will cause variance in the high voltage output, which can stress the magnetron and increase current consumption.

Microwave Oven Control Panel Repair Nationwide
"Recycling by repairing since 1982"

The magnetron are short need to replace / look for the old or in junk shop magnetron same serial # and etc
SOURCE: keeps blowing fuses
This problem is just like my own microwave, replace the shorted HV capacitor
SOURCE: Yesterday, my sharp carousel r-1460 went dead. I
If the 20A fuse is blowing, it is often the high voltage transformer or magnetron. If this is the case, and the microwave is not under warranty, replace it. Residential microwaves are generally considered disposable. Parts and labor are just too expensive. A magntron or transformer can cost more that half the cost of a new microwave.
SOURCE: microwave pops fuse replaced fuse came on but hit start it makes a loud pop again and blows fuse
If this is a newer model under 7 years old, the problem is in the magnetron or the inverter board, cost to repair in either case would be excessive.
