There's a knob in the front like under the fridge which I turn until it clicks but still nothing happens. The compressor is really warm to touch and you can hear somrthing like it kicks in but no cold air. Please help.

Neither the fridge nor freezer area of the fridge is working, i purchased it in december from BrandsMart USA of Georgia and it seem to work just fine. Over a period of time it started to seem warmer and warmer, until one day it just completely stop being cool all together. I turned the knob in the front of it and continously tried to work with the controls but i got no results. I unplugged the fridge for a period of time and yet still no result. You can notify me at (770) 957-8195 Timothy Ball.

Does the compressor click on and off every minute or so and is hot? That would likely be tripping on a thermal overload due to not being able to start (bad motor starter on the compressor). If the compressor is running normally and warm then you may have a froze up coil. Take the lower rear back sheetmetal cover off the inside freezer section and look at the coil. If it's frozen block of ice basically the defrost cycle is not working and the ice has blocked the air flow through the unit. (could be bad defrost heater, defrost timer or defrost t-stat). If the compressor is running normally and warm and you see no ice or even frost on the coils then you have a sealed system problem that usually means most if not all of the refrigerant has leaked out of the system (or a blockage/restriction in the system). This would be the worst case since it means a whole bunch of money to repair. Let us know what you find out and we can have a better idea on what to recommend.

Fridge warm, freezer has frost on back panel & is defrosting, fans work, just changed defrost thermostat, no air is moving from freezer side to fridge side, drain pan under fridge is dry

this fan needs to run when the compressor runs, check fan blade for being jammed by ice if you have this much ice on back wall as ice will stall motor,if no fan there will be no cool air to refrige compartment also the defrost drain tray will fill with water then freeze over which in turn floods the freezer floor and refrige compartments cause it cannot drain to the pan in the bottom

Kenmore side by side fridge. Green temp light flashing for fridge side, freezer side working fine. Fridge side not cooling.

possibly frosted up at the air door between the fridge and freezer, or the fan in the freezer is not pushing cold air into the fridge side, if you can not hear a fan running in the freezer when the fridge is running (compressor on) then change out the fan

Sxs fridge freezer is cold but fridge not

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

My frige is not cold, just cool, turn the T stat to coldest & no good. The freezer seems fine & I looked in the back & the fan is running. It doesn't seem to be blowing cold air or...

Two thoughts. If the fan is running... and you can here it in the freezer when it is on. Then the fan is fine and it is the mixer control. IF the fan is not working, then fix the fan.

The mixer control is in the top of the fridge where the air comes out on the wall between the fridge and freezer.

I think maytag calls this a cold control / damper.

Basically it controls the air flow rate between the fridge and freezer. When it is opens it allows air from the freezer into the fridge and cools it off.

Hope this helps.

Freezer side works fine. Fridge side not as cold as should be. Fan is working on freezer side

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

The freezer side does not freeze on the top shelf. The refrigerator freezes everything in the bottom but reads 47 degrees and doesn't cool the top shelves. The fan under the fridge runs fine.

Behind the back wall of the freezer about halfway down, probably behind the light bulb (if there is one there) there is a fan. My guess is that the fan isn't working, or is slow. To test, open the freezer door, then hold the door switch closed and listen for the fan.

This fan should be blowing air up the back of the freezer, and send some of the cold air through a vent at the top of the freezer into the fridge. The air then descends through the fridge and reenters the freezer through a vent at the bottom. If the fan is broken, or if the upper vent is somehow blocked or broken, the cold air will enter (rather than exit) the fridge side at the bottom vent. Because cold air tends to descend and warm air rises, the cold air will freeze the stuff at the bottom of the fridge, and the thermostat (at the top of the fridge) will say it is warm.

New Kennmore side by side freezer works but refrig is warm

Do you hear the fan running in the back of the compartments when either door is open? The freezer side runs the fridge side and a fan transfers the cold air from the freezer to the fridge side. If the fan does not run or there is a blockage then the fridge side will not get cold of course.

Side by side freezer works fine ice cold.fridge not so good. only at 57 degrees

Listen for the fan motor to run. Open the freezer\ push the door switch with your finger \ listen for the fan that blows the cold air to the fridge. only the freezer side gets cold...fan blows cold to the fridge side. If the defrost timer has broken then ice may be blocking the flow of cold air to the fridge also. Only 2 things to check. Good Luck
