Nintendo ds lite that shuts off unexpectedly

Hi again,

Ive been doing a bit of research and it seems that if the DS lite has had a knock the black coil near the power switch could have been knocked loose which would make the DS lite switch off randomly. If you want to see if thats the problem take the DS lite apart (for a dismantle guide click here) and check to see if its loose... its the black round thing with 100 written on it near the power switch. If its loose then heat up the solder round it and that should reset it.

If thats not it check the L2 transistor is firmly in place, again if its loose heat the solder and reset it.

Another thing you can check is the power switch make sure its solid and doesnt wobble internally i.e. the black moveable part only moves the way its supposed to, as well as checking the solder is solid.

Hope this helps, if it doesn't sort out your issue then get back to me and I will continue to help you.

Nintendo DS Lite charges but won't power on

I suggest that you get it fixed. The DS may have been dropped, had something spilled on it, etc. Getting it fixed is cheaper, and right now, the less money spent, the better.

Nintendo DS Lite power adaptor disconnection problem

There is a small latch on the connector that may be stuck. Try this. Turn the DS Lite upside down with the charger plug facing away from you. Press down the on the plug gently with your right thumb and with your left hand pull the connect away from the socket. FYI this should be a simple fit! Make sure the connector was not jammed in upside down to start with. It has a clear six sided shape to it!

Nintendo DS Lite won't come on

@JoepIt, you have a defective LCD screen. Could be upper of lower (I thing for 99% the upper).

@pietras1422, on the mainboard next to the power-switch, there is a resistor. If could be loose or is missing completely. Problem will occur when the DS Lite is dropped to the ground

Broken power switch

Look on the well known auction sites. Some are selling the switch. Ask them if they could also replace it for you. I could do it for you but I'm in Europe, so a little to far

Power button loosely slides

Yes. The switch has broken and is replaceable. However I wouldn't recommend you do it unless you've done this before. DS Lites are easy to damage further when taking them apart. It's a great system but is easily broken beyond fixing. Look at all the posts on here from people putting new shells on and now the system won't boot up, broken ribbon cable connectors, etc. If it's under a year old contact Nintendo and they will repair it for free.

DS lite

I'd suggest removing and then re-inserting the battery (this should at least switch the power off).
Is the power switch loose? If so it's been broken and needs replacing (not an easy job).
Alternately it could just be stuck in sleep mode which happens when the DS is closed while powered on but should awaken when re-opened.
