Microwave will no longer heat. Worked fine yesterday, today nothing. All lights, lock, timer etc. work fine could this be a fuse problem? Tried unplugging and re-plugging to hopefully "reset" but still nothing. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
The problem is the magnetron, "heart of the microwave oven" or the inverter board if 7 years old or less.
Testimonial: "Thank you for the reply it was a very helpful. Normally I would try to attempt this repair myself but I am now an ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) patient and can no longer use my hands. I will have to have my brother check it out or get someone to take it to the shop for me. As they no longer make this model a comparable replacement will cost about $270."
The good news is no inverter board, it does have a high voltage capacitor that sometimes shorts, and a high voltage diode that cracks on occassion or opens. Since it is a over the range microwave I feel it is worth getting it checked out for repair simply because it was expensive when bought and replacement would not be cheap, I think you would be further ahead getting it fixed.
Thank you very much Larry for your comments and support.

Sounds like the problem is in the high voltage. Most common would be magnatron, capacitor and diode. For safety reasons this should be checked by a professional. Look in your owners manual because some high voltage parts have a longer warranty than 1 yr.

This
is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch
mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.
Even though a door
switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.
Door switch
or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening
the
door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.
There are
plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and
onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.
The screws on these
mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be
activated properly.
Sometimes it's
a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just
out of position. This tab
can be hard to see, since it is under the
bottom edge of the switch.
If the mount is broken, it's usually more economical and
safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the
switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.
One test that sometimes
helps is to
gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to
start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount
or
door alignment issue.

With the details you described, the high voltage diode might be shorted( usually HVR 1X). It is connected from the Capacitor and the chassis, or else the capacitor is the one at fault, but not common .

Model # is JVM1440WHO1 and it is about eight years old. Does this make any difference? Can it be repaired inexpensively or is it cheaper just to buy a new microwave? Thanks for your reply.
