Does anyone know what the trouble code 2881 is in the manual for this camera? I have misplaced my manual. Thank you for your help.
Solution #6 is the correct one. Many of the Hitachi camcorders don't read DVD-RW. Thanks whoever you are
Well Im going through the same thing and no one can seem to figure out what is going on. Ive tried all sorts of disc including a DVD-RAM Video 60 and Im still getting the same Error #2881 Code.
I have Hitachi DZ-MZ350A DVD CAM and I tried to put a maxell DVD-RW and it didnt work I got the same error so I figure it does not do RW so I got Panasonic DVD-R and so far so good.
I am using a Panasonic VDR-M30B and have exactly the same error code when I try to use a DVD-R disc. It says: "Error has occurred. Error code No. 2881. Please read the manual." There is nothing in the manual about error codes. It looks like that both Hitachi and Panasonics are using the same software/firmware but that fact does not solve our problems. DVD-RAM works fine for recording but does not allow reading on computer or TV. I plan to see Panasonic Service in Oslo next week.
The disk is in backwards, Side "A" has to be at the bottom when you insert it to the cam. the part of the disk where the information is written on the cd is towards the screen or left.
Hi Everyone. CODE 2881Above "Fake email123 is right. Also as above its notes the manual has NO codes. So don t waste your time in that direction trying to track a manual. It does say check the manual and the manual says check the manufacturer. Its just in backwards. A simple fix.
its in the camera slot facing outward and not facing into the camera body (left). Look for the word "open" on each of the disk case. Its fragile so gently press by the word open on each side.
The disk case will open. Carefully without touching the disk silver side with fingers that might leave slight oil traces..
Take the disk out and make sue the silver non coloured side is facing into the body of the camera and the side A is at the bottom of the case. And the coloured side is facing the open case comparment door. Flip it and put the disk back in side A at the bottom.
Worked for me. Its just in the envelope
Black plastic case backwards. When you have it out. Take a soft dry cloth and gently clean the disk. Ok
Worked perfectly. No need to take it in to a service drop or call the company. It just somehow was placed backwards. I was probably trying to play with it and put it on my disk drive of my computer. Which didn't work anyway.
I just pulled out my old Hitachi DZ-MV380A I think I bought it in 2004 new. I used it a few times then moved and well life happens.
I was downsizing Konmari and found it in a box of my camera gear. I wanted to film today some snow footage . I am a photographer and also work in TV and Film as an Actor. So other film me. (Supetnatural,iZombi, Diary of a Wimpy kid etc.
This camera is great. Its not junk. Dated yes but if its what you have its great. Use it for you tube, Instagram, fb... etc. Thats it. Now get filming.
Thanks to fakeemail123 for helping. I can view my acting scenes and a trip to Alaska etc etc. I'm just heading out to film, now feeling confident knowing there isn't an issue ir anything wrong i the filming are with the camera. Its perfect now. Just needed the disk put in its black case properly. Yea! Gone filming life In Vancouver BC Canada's most recent snow snow.storm. Feb 12, 2019 :)
Have fun making movies. Enjoy!!!!!
Service told me to take it to the store I bought it at (circuit city) and they could then refer me to a service center for repair to this piece of junk. Can ANY company make something that lasts more than a month or two? I probably take care of my stuff better than anyone I know and the junk ALWAYS fails. Expensive and made poorly in some foreign country no doubt.
I used exactly the same discs from day one. It worked fine until one day and all of a sudden error no.2881. Discs are DVD-R. I'm calling right now.
I had a similiar problem and was unable to locate my owner's manual. I called the Hitachi service number at 1-800-448-2244 and they said it was a disk read error. This model can not read DVD-RW. It can only read DVR-R or DVR-Ram.

hitachi DZ-MV350E eroor code 2881 can you help me to fix this to [email protected]
Hitachi DZ-MV350E, error no.2881 keep popping out on the screen. Can anyone tell me why and to solve it. Thanks.
I have a Hitachi DZ-MV350A DVD Camcorder. Like others, the Camera with SD Card works fine, but it doesn't seem to be able to access the DVD Discs. I have Panasonic DVD-RAM, JVC DVD-R, and other discs that used to work, but now do not.
Service manual does not show anything about the Error Code 2881.
It has been about a year since I used this last, and all the disc worked then.
Hitting the Reset Button on the camcorder did not help. My thought would be that the Laser assembly pooped the bed.
Any ideas?
