The Xerox c2424 Document Scanner has a very high rate of failure. After very limited use it can generate an error code of 39,012.40 indicating that the document feeder is damaged. Xerox's answer to 99% of the document scanner issues is to replace the
unit. But while restarting or cleaning can possibly resolve this issue, it is also possible to just disconnect the scanner and use it independently of the document feeder.
Xerox documentation however, does not instruct the user how to do this and tech support won't walk you though it. (So, courtesy of Pastor Ray of Indiana) Listed here are the steps to operating the scanner without the document feeder:
(1) Perform a standard shutdown on the printer.
(2) Disconnect the Document Feeder from the printer IN THE REAR OF
THE PRINTER. You still need the side connector hooked up, the one
by the power-on switch, power plug, USB port and all the other goodies.
(3) Power up the printer.
(4) It should work. However...
If for some reason the printer won't copy, then just do what I did in my
experimentation:
(1) Perform a standard shutdown on the printer.
(2) Disconnect the Document Feeder from the printer in the rear of the
printer.
(3) Physically remove the Document Feeder, leaving the copy platen
visible.
(4) Power up the printer.
At this point you should be able to copy stuff.
(5) Physically reattach the Document Feeder, but DON'T reconnect it!
You should still be able to copy, scan, etc.
The SPF is the ADF > the doccument feeder on top of the copier. Do you only get black lines when you use the ADF? When you lift the ADF up and you see the copy board glass > there is a small **** of glass on the side of the big piece of glass..... Clean the small piece of glass with windex and that should take care of your problem... Good Luck
Hello sir;Did you reset copier after you replace a new drum? if not please do it, if still have problem, you need adjust shading;
Close doccument feeder, select adjust shading . press "set up" An image will be scanned and a ccd shading profile will be print put, if the printed image is different than the image the ccd is bad.
Something is stuck in one of these, a piece of paper, foam, paperclip, twist tie . . . it could be anything. Follow the squealing sound and check the paper feeder rollers.
Hello sir; Tell me when the sreak line come out, is using doccument feeder or leave on the glass, if using feeder, just need to clean out the glass( narrow strip) otherwise you have to change drum cleaning blade. p.s. also need to clean white reference on the cover( when you lift up the cover on the lefthand side.)
Please provide model number......however, if it's a "copier style" if you open the auto feeder, there should be a large contact glass and then a small "****" glass on the side that is used when using the auto feeder -clean this glass thoroughly (clean both while you're at it). If it's just a regular style fax machine, there will just be a small glass under the cover that needs to be cleaned.
the document feeder of that unit have its own scanner glass. try opening the document feeder and clean the scanner glass with a lint free cloth that is moist with water and also clean the rollers of the document feeder
no i didnt try it on th glass but my machine doesnt even start up now at all, but I'm gonna try power supply.
