GE Profile JTP18S0D1SS Oven - about 8 years old, I set Bake or Broil, set the temperature to 350 deg., press start, and it does not start, the oven emits 5 short beeps, with no error codes. Lights and panel work okay. When I set a delayed time start, and the time is reached, the oven does not start but I get an F3 code.
Follow-up to this problem. I wiggled the temperature sensor probe inside at the top of the oven, and pressed it in a little, and the oven is working okay now. When I set delayed start, it also works okay and I get no F3 error code. appears problem is solved...although I may need to tighten the probe.Follow-up to this problem. when you start it, it then says F3 on the face of the oven. Does something need to be reset on it?when you start it, it then says F3 on the face of the oven. Does something need to be reset on it?

This is an update from James758. When I pressed the temp sensor probe and wiggled it a bit, sometimes the oven would work, but then it failed permanently after a few days. Had to call a repairman who charged $325 to replace the entire electronic panel and the separate sensor, although the failed part was only a relay on the board according to him. He also found a pinched wire when he pulled the oven out (one new electronic board relay failed when he first replaced it). Don't know how the wire to the sensor got pinched since the oven worked for 8 years without us moving that hidden wire. By the way, buying the sensor at a parts store in town was $18 versus his cost to us of $49. I'm sure the electronic board would also be much cheaper online. My wife watched the repairman replace the parts; you can save a lot of money doing it yourself.

First of all, most oven thermometers move very slowly compared to the electronic sensors and controls on the oven. To make sure you are getting an accurate reading, the thermometer should be in the center of the oven, the oven should be preheated, then wait another 20 minutes after the preheat beep. If the temperature is less than 35 degrees higher or lower at this point, it can be adjusted via the controls. Usually on GE ovens you press and hold bake and broil at the same time until SF comes up in the display. Then press bake, then use the arrow keys to raise or lower the temperature setting. If the temperature is more than 35 degrees off, you may have a bad sensor, bad control board, or other problem.
1. Check to see if the both that Bake and Broil elements (burners) are heating up. Check the Broil element in Broil mode.
- during pre-heat the Broil element gets cycled on and off for short time durations to speed up the heating. If the Bake element is not working, then the oven will heat, but very slowly and never reach high temperature.
2. If the elements are both working, then it's possible that you have a bad temperature sensor.
- this is a temperature dependent resistance device that should measure 1080 ohms at 70 deg F (room temp).
3. If #1 and #2 are ok, then the problem is with your oven clock/control unit. We rebuild these at fixyourboard.com.
Your oven is in celcius mode to change press bake and broil at the same time SF will appear then press broil and cooking time at the same time a C will appear press again to toggle to farenheight then press start to lock it in that mode. Some models when you press the bake and broil the sf will appear if it does press the press the broil button to toggle between C & F then press start. www.appliancehelponline.com
Hi. The F-2 code will appear if the control board is sensing an abnormal oven operating temperature above 615F-630F, during bake, or above 915F-930F, during the self cleaning stages.
If actual over temperature condition occurred: Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).
If no over temperature condition occurred: Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.
Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit , not actual oven temperature.
NOTE_
The most common oven sensor should be approximately, 1100 ohms when at room temperature. The others may be close to as follows:
100°F - 1143 ohms
200°F - 1350 ohms
300°F - 1553 ohms
350°F - 1654 ohms
400°F - 1753 ohms
500°F - 1949 ohms
Possibly the bake igniter, the temperature sensor or the electronic oven clock/control. Does broil mode heat properly or does it run cool also? If broil heats to the proper temperature then the temperature sensor is probably ok. That leaves the ignitor or the controller which takes some more troubleshooting. If it is the controller, we repair them at www.fixyourboard.com.
Usually,
when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake element is burned out.
The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the
oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an
expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may
last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it. or try doing this 1. Turn the
clock selector knob to OFF
2. “Tweak” the oven control by turning the clock
selector knob slightly to the left (counter clockwise).
This may stop the flashing message/beeping and clear the
display window.
brand new??? under a year old??? if so you have a warr call for service, but it sounds like an ignitor isssue, brand new , perhapsgot damaged in shipping 1-800-ge-cares
