When I press the power button, the light comes on and I hear it click and then it goes right off. It also has been shifting the picture to a degree that it looks like 3D. Used to be able to tap the tv and it would straighten out, not any more. Any suggestions before I take it to the curb??

most likely the convergence Ics have failed. Check F9a04 and F9A05 pico fuses if they are blown you will need to replace them and the convergence Ics.They are located on the center board they are green and look like resistors without the color band. see the photo

If this is a ws-65411: it sounds like one of the two STK-392-110 convergence IC's is bad; you need to have both replaced at the same time; I do this type of repair(done hundreds of them) and most can be done right in your home.
The two ic's can be purchased on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping.
This is the slow time of year for TV repair shops--find someone in your area who knows how to do this kind of repair---here shops charge 3-4 hundred but I charge 200-250 total depending on brand of set.
Shop around and if they insist on "taking set to shop" keep looking---any good tech can do this repair in your home---MAKE SURE HE CHANGES BOTH of the IC's!
I do this here for free so if this has been helpful give me a vote here.

~ Check the lamp hours ~ Normally it is 200-400 hours lamp life ~ BASIC USAGE: 8 hours/day ~ Reseat the lamp~ Consider replacing the lamp or it could be an Internal Problem
