the laser beam is block you need to open the printer and unjammed
since every time you put a toner cartridge there is a fin that moves the cover over the laser or maybe you have a faulty cartridge that the fin is broken
The only way to duplex print on a standard 2420 is to print the first page, then take that page and re-insert it into the paper tray face up. Then print page 2 onto the back of page 1. If you want to automatically duplex print then you need a 2420DN printer which has the duplexing paper path as well as the formatter board with the duplex firmware.

Not all of the paper jam was actually cause by paper. There are also instances that the media is the one that is jammed, causing to display a "paper jam" message.
If you can't find any jammed paper from the unit, you can try inspect the following cause.. 1. Trays are loaded improperly or overfilled. 2. Tray 2 or tray 3 is removed during print job. 3. The top cover is opened during print job. 4. The media that is being used does not meet HP specifications. 5. The media that is being used is outside of the supported size range.
Also, try to tun HP toolbox.. on the Paper Jam options, click the Typical Jam Locations... to see the internal paper path and potential jammed locations.
Hi, check throughout the printer for small pieces of paper stuck, broken sensors etc, clean the rollers in the paper tray 2, check for wear. clean the registration rollers (under a metal flap under the print cartridge) do not clean the transfer roller (the spongey roller sitting under the drum!)
