D LINK DSL-2640B Router's Wireless keeps disconnecting

So i use err, 2 modems, 1 acting as a route to the modem which is the D-LINK DSL 2640B, and the other one for the modem, to connect to the internet, they are both synchronized. The problem is, when i enable the wireless, after a few minutes it got turned off automatically , i don't know why, i tried rebooting after enabling it, but it still won't work, any solutions anyone? PS:192.168.1.2 is for the route, and 192.168.1.1 is for the modem.

SOURCE: Connecting Laptop wireless and Desktop wired to the router

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

SOURCE: d-link DGL-4500 is not accessing my dsl modem

make sure the dsl modem is in bridge mode. you do this by connecting directly to the modem then accessing modem configuration page. after doing this connect the way everything was before. now go to router admin page, then setup tab at the top, then choose internet, manual setup. in the place where its says my internet connection is select PPPoE. then put in your dsl username, password and etc. save settings. this should fix the problem

SOURCE: Ethernet connection of DI-524 does not work

You have to make the Ip changes on the laptop not on the modem.
You said you have internet acces on one computer. Then use that computer to find out the exact IP address used by the modem.
On the laptop use the exact same numbers, (IP, Sub mask, Gateway, Primary DNS)
and chek if it works.
If you want to have both computers on the Internet, simply change the last number on the IP address ONLY.

SOURCE: I have just set up a D-Link DSL-2640R Wireless-G

Check that your router is set to a channel that does not have a lot of traffic on it. If you are in an area where there are a lot of wireless networks, this can be very important for proper operation. The other possibility I can think of is that the antenna is faulty or there is some other interference in your building. You might also check that your router does not have a low power wireless transmit mode, not many do, but if it does, it's always possible that it's turned on.

Testimonial: "Other wireless net works are in the area so this sounds like the cause, my problem now is I don't know how to change the channel on the router. "

Can I use AT&T 2701HG-B 2W Wireless Gateway DSL

yes, you can use them together. they'll find each other at protocol layer 2 (bridge) and layer 3 (router),
and route packets appropriately. Check their manuals to make sure that their HTTP management page ip addresses are different - say 192.168.0.0 for one router and 192.168.1.1 for the other - so that you
can manage them separately without disconnecting them.
You'll want to manage them separately to assign them different wireless-N channels. Channel 6 is
the default, and allowing both to compete on the same channel is a bad idea - give each its own
wi-fi channel. There are 11 wireles 802.11n channels, labeled 1-11.

Diagram: DSL === AT&T 2701HG-B ---------- NetGear router --------------- desktop computer

Each link in the diagram above is an ethernet (802.3 10baseT) cable (except the DSL cable,
which is twisted pairs), and wireless devices can
hop onto the Internet by wirelessly connecting to either the AT&T 2701 or the NetGear router.

My d'link dsl 2640u keeps disconnecting. i try to access the router throw 192.168.1.1 but nothing shows every time i need to restart my PC then everything would be fine and i can ccess the router...

Does your PC work on other networks reliably? If so- it's likely the DLink failing. The firmware issue is just a symptom as well. I'd recommend either seeing if you could use your DSL provider's original modem (if this was a replacement) or if you have another router- if it doesn't drop at that point, it was definitely the router/modem. However, if it drops still, you may have a line issue- but I severely doubt this since the symptoms are pointing to the DLink.

Dlink DSL-2640B LAN & Internet keep disconnecting , very random and it's painful

Hello,
There are many reasons why this might be happening.. You could try the following steps..
1) Disconnect the power from router for a minute and reconnect and check. 2) Try changing the wireless channel and Network name and try re-connecting and in change LAN slots at the back of the router. 3) Check if there is an firmware update for your product and update if any update is available. 4) If none of the above steps work you will need to reset and re-config your router. ( For that you need the CD given with the router and you will need the ISP settings.)
Hope this helped
