Refrigerator Loud fan noise coming from behind the ice maker The freezer is making a loud noise - Samsung rs2630. If I open the freezer door the noise stops. What do you suggest I do next? Thanks

This worked for a short amount of time but then it started back and has been off and on for a couple of days. I have been told it is the freezer fan and I am going to try and have it replaced. Thanks for your suggestion.

Making loud noise from the freezer side but every thing is working fine

Open the freezer and press the door switch in to see if the noise is coming from the fan. If it is, see if there is any ice buildup on the back panel or behind it that the fan may be rubbing on. Keep me posted.

GE Side by Side Refrig - loud noise behind the ice maker section Model PSS25SGMB BS

it sounds like the evaporator fan blade is hitting some ice that has built up around the blades i have seen this happen a lot on g.e. SxS lately,if you can remove the ice maker and dispenser you can see the fan blade,if you dont want to do this then shut down the refrigerator and leave freezer door open and heat it carefully with a hairdrier to speed the process up to melt this ice then restart it and the noise should be gone

Loud humming noise coming from freezer

I believe what is happening, is your Evap fan has some build-up of ice on it. The reason it stops when you open the door, is the Evap fan cuts off. The Evap fan starts back up when the door is closed. What you'll need to do, is open the freezer door, and remove the back panel of the freezer. This takes some 1/4 inch screws and a couple Phillips I believe. Once you get the panel off you'll be able to see if there is any ice build-up on the Evap fan. If need, be take a hair-dryer on medium or low, and melt the ice off of it. This should solve your problem.

Frigidaire side by side freezer - LOUD noise...

It sounds like the evaporator fan is hitting ice that is built up on the evaporator coil. When it's making the noise, open the freezer door and see if it stops.
(Most models are wired so that the evaporator fan cuts off when the freezer door is open.)
Check the inside back, lower panel of the freezer for ice built up or frost on it. If there is, you have a defrost problem that is most likley a bad heater. It's located around the coil inside the freezer behind the panel you will be looking at. The defrost problem would explain the freezer not freezing ice cream.

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

Loud Buzzing Noise from Behind Freezer

Sounds like the freezer fan blade is hitting on a build up of ice or frost. You may have a defrost issue, or it may be a one time thing, like the door was open for a long time (object holding door partially open) or also check the ice dispenser duct door to make sure it is closing. Sometimes a chunk of ice hangs up in the ice shoot, allowing moist air to enter freezer, resulting in the extra frost / ice near the freezer fan. You might also check the door gaskets, especially the bottom side where sugary liquid spills might cause a gasket to tear. #2: Long run times: If cooling is good, don't worry. Older refrig's often ran less time, but used much more electricity than the newer refrig's, even though new one run longer. (Like having a 40 watt light bulb on for 20 hours a day uses less electricity than having a 100 watt bulb on for 10 hours a day)

Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.

Thanks,
Bill
