I am constantly receiving a Yahoo Messenger error: messenger
encountered a connection problem. Please check the network connection
and then click "Try again" (81003004). Obs: It worked till very
yesterday, but now, no way. I don't know what to do. I tried to change
the location in my email properties (I did it, but Yahoo Messenger
didn't start working) I changed the type of connection in Yahoo
Messenger (also without success). So, what do you think should I do?
    Thanks.

Go open Internet Explorer and go in the File menu and uncheck at the bottom the Work Offline option. Then go to a site using IE. Close IE. Open Yahoo Messenger and log in.

There are multiple possible causes for this: HERE IS ONE THAT I FOUND ON MY NEW PC: The McAfee firewall mavens (morons?) saw it appropriate to block Yahoo Messenger traffic by DEFAULT -- I guess they are trying to pander to their corporate clients? Well they really pissed me off (as a home user)...... So just go into your security console, and check for events. You will see "access blocked" or some such message... Just change from Deny to allow or whatever.

Norton Anti-Virus wasn't fully uninstalled from my laptop. (I had error message 81003004) Once the 'Norton uninstall tool" was implemented Yahoo! Messenger started working again. (You need to get the tool from Norton.) I hope this helps someone else!

I had this problem cause of mcafee antivirus. it bloked yahoo messenger considering it was a menace i guess. you have to active it manuali from the antivirus program. go to firewall, configuracion then permited programs and activ it. hop you undestand my writing and that got you out of the problem.

81003004 issue logging into messenger

as far as wat i did to my YM.

i simply checked the connection preferences and turned

"Connect via a proxy server."

then select

"HTTP proxy"

after that take a look at your internet connection dropdown list..

some mistakes are seen here.. instead of having the "broadband" connection selected the "dial-up" connection was chosen by YM itself..

hope that helps ya ^^
