When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

SOURCE: my notebook shuts down right after powering up

This is a protective measure. Your Processor fan is probably not spinning and cooling the unit. You can probably open the fan access on the bottom of the case (on most laptop). If you see the fan, clean it with cannned air and make sure that is spins freely. If it does not spin, you need to replace it.

SOURCE: i have an acer aspire 3680 2682 that wont boot.

Try also taking out the hard drive and the dvd drive to make sure that they aren't shorting out the motherboard.

Also try another stick of memory besides the one that came with your laptop to be sure the memory isn't bad.

If after you do these steps you still can't get video then your motherboard is bad.

SOURCE: IBM thinkpad T30.The power button turned on then

There could e a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

Try also to reseat the main components of the notebook: the battery, the AC adapter, the memory modules, & the hard drive.
After that try switching it on & see if the problem was fixed.

Computer will not turn on

If your computer is plugged into a power source, you may have to do a "hardboot" or reset ... if it has already shut down (for whatever reasons). Try pressing the Power (on/off) button down for a while (up to 15 seconds) ... or until you see it start up ... or, release and then press the power button again (normally) to see if it powers up.
If your computer is not plugged into a power source, it may have shut down due to low battery. And, until there is battery power, it will not start up (or wake up from sleep/hibernate mode). First charge the battery up (preferably fully), and then press the Power button to start up the computer.

I pluged in the power supply and nothing is happening. The small yellow batery icon came on near the screen and nothing else is happening

Hi,

Remove the mains power lead and then take out the battery. Hold down the on/off button for 30 seconds to dispel any residual power.

Plug in just the mains lead (AC adapter) and see if the machine will boot on mains power only. If it does let it boot up and then shut it down again. Remove AC and reinsert the battery, plug in AC power again and see if it will boot with the battery in.

If it boots up the problem is sorted, if not then there is a problem with battery so you would have to use it on AC only until you find a replacement battery.

Please post back if need anymore help.

Good luck and regards.

I have a feeling that when you ran the battery down it is now struggling to get and hold a charge.
If you have a friend with a similar battery perhaps try that, or go to a mobile store and ask them to try a new battery for you.

  1. Connect the device to an external power source1

Hi,
by pressing the power button in, the computer has gone into standby or hibernate mode.
Heres what you Do:- press and hold the power button for between 10 to 20 seconds.
that should bring it out of hibernation.
if that does,nt work. remove the main battery.
when you,ve resolved the problem, run a disk-scan via your windows operating system.

No power to notebook

It is possible there is a problem with the power pack. Unplug it from the mains, wait for 5 minutes and then try again.

Also try taking the battery out and the power cable and then pressing the power button, as this resets the power management unit in some laptops.

Also with the battery still out, try running just off the mains power.

Failing all of that, take it back under warranty.
