Facing the front of the switch, the Reset pin hole will be to the very right. Insert a paperclip into the hole, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds. The device should now be at factory defaults.

My previous post was based on the *L* version, the only info I could find on the US site. And no I haven?t physically seen one until today since I use HP switches pretty exclusively. At any rate I did some more searching and found an overseas D-link site by accident. It didn?t have a manual but it did have a PowerPoint presentation on how to reset the switch without the web interface. Apparently the *L* version added a physical reset switch to avoid having to use the console, after you use it you?ll understand why. HP switches have a console connection as well; the problem with them is getting a program called HyperTerminal to work with the equipment.

Please note you need to connect the switch to a PC serial port using a cable that originally came with the switch. It looks like a standard serial cable with a DB 9 connector each end, probably with D-link molded into the connectors or on a label. Here are the instructions pulled from the presentation:

-Start the Hyper Terminal program (Windows XP: Start, programs, accessories, communications).
-Key in the [Username] and [Password, the default is no username and password.
    -Select the [Reboot] option
-Select the [Reboot & Load Factory Default Configuration] option.
    -Select the [Yes] option.
-You should see a counter running (on the left hand side).
-You should see a message on ?the switch is rebooting? (on the right hand side).
-You should see the above screen while the Switch reboot.
-When the reset is done you will be back to the [Username] & [Password] screen.

I wanna password reset my D-link 3624i switch...can anyone help?

Recovering a Lost Password - If the password for the router configuration is lost then the
following procedure can be used to set it to "friend".
1) Power cycle the router
2) Hold down the "s" key during startup. (The router will startup with the
current release but no configuration
3) Edit the configuration file and remove the line (Ctrl Y):
set user=manager pass=3af00c6cad11f7ab5db4467b66ce503eff priv=manager
4) Save the router configuration
5) "restart reboot"
