Try to disable firewall on your computer.

Do you have a router on your network? If so, you need to open ports on your router.

It's the microphone.

Locate the Test Call in your Contact List and follow the instructions. It'll call up Skype and after the prompt your voice is recorded then played back to you.

Can't hear caller on Skype

Check you settings in two places for the correct audio out settings:

1. Look up under the System Preferences menu (the Apple pull down menu) the sound icon (looks like a speaker) and click on it to open it. At the top it will show three choices, Sound Effect, Output, Input. The problem you can't hear the Skype caller is likely the Output setting is incorrect. For example, you may have Line Out selected, but you are listing on head phones. Make the device name match what you are using to make sound.
Also check to see that the output volume is not set too low. Move the slider around to increase the volume.

2. Then check your Skype setting.Under Skype>preferences, select Auto/Video. Check to see what is selected under "Speakers: and check again to see the Volume is turned up high enough to hear.

Also make sure you have a good speaker or headphone connection.

You can check to see if you can hear by calling the Skype test call number to record yourself and listen to it. Go the www.skype.com/go/help for more information.

I am having trouble being heard and listening to others. When I talk it is delayed, and the same for the other party. It also breaks up from time to time

This is usually caused by network failure or problem. Your internet connection or that of your caller may be poor or experiencing some issues and as such does not allow the conversation to be smooth. Although, it is not always rapid for each of you to hear yourself but then, it is not also delayed.
This can also be caused if you or your callers are using an older version of the skype software and might require you to update to the latest version of skype.
Hope this got you somewhere? Remember to comment for more information and thank you for using fixya.

Nokia 6110 - Can hear callers but they can't hear me

Sounds to me like a microphone issue. Try contacting the Cellular Dr./ Cell Phone Dr. , or Cell Phone Repair.com. They both do excellent work as far as cellular phones go. I am a Satellite Phone Technician, although I have done alot of Cell phone service and repair as well. If you ever need a satellite phone repair done, or want to rent one for a trip to the middle of nowhere, call us at 206-329-1947

MIC

Does she have a microphone plugged in? I dont think the 6400 has a built in mic.

If you're sure your mic works then open the sound mixer (click the speaker icon by the time in the lower right) and click "options" then "properties" and select recording. Click ok. Make sure "microphone" is selected.

Hope this helps!
