To secure the network you have to connect the computer directly to the router via an ethernet cable, open a web page (it will be blank ) and type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar at the top of the web page, it should let you in to the router, most default passwords to routers are "admin" & "admin" or "Admin" & admin", once in you can set your own SSID name (network name) and passwork (network key)

hope this helps

kind regards

You have the WEP written down you need to set it up on your PC. Go to MY NETWORK PLACES from desktop or start menu. On the right menu select set up a wireless network for home or small office. You will be asked to provide your SSID - the name your router appears as by default this is belkin54g Next select manually assign network key. Type in the key that you wrote down, and click next from here you will want to set up each computer manually, just so you don't go through the USB process.
YOu should now reconnect the the secure network.

Next you'll want to turn on MAC filtering, you'll do this by first making sure you know your MAC address, from your computer click start, and click run. from the run dialog box type "cmd" this will open a command window. from there type. IPCONFIG /all. This will list all your settings find your physical address, it should look like XX:XX:XX:XX:XX if you have more than one card in your PC, wireless and wired, your probably safe writing them both down.

Go back to the router settings and find firewall settings and look for MAC filtering. Before enabling MAC filtering enter all necessary MAC Address and add them. Then check Enable MAC filtering and then apply settings.

You need to put inhttp://192.168.1.1 ORhttp://192.168.0.1 Please read the user manual that comes with your router, it may be on the cd. Read the user manual and follow the suggestions on the video and you have everything you need.

Wireless ASL2 + Router is configure and working properly. From Last night wireless LED is not glowing and wireless network is not working.I restarted/refresh the modem several times, however problem still...

Somebody has disabled the wireless function in your router. If your router was unsecured it most likely was disabled by someone other than you who was in range of your router (usually a couple of hundred feet) and has a bit of technical know-how.

On page 17 of this guide you will find directions on how to reenable wireless as well as how to secure it to prevent this from happening in the future: http://www.avbell.com/Manual/DSL_2640B/UserManualDSL_2640B.pdf

If you found this helpful, please leave positive feedback. Thanks!

How do I turn on my laptop in order to use ot wirelessly?

Hi

Enable your wireless connections and search for wireless connection that in unsecured or secured connection. For secured connection, you need to encode the WEP password to be able to access into the internet. For unsecured connection, you can connect directly and automatically.

I hope it helps you.

Need to secure router via laptop

Hi Thanks for your question
I think my tutorial may help you with this please click this link----> http://www.fixya.com/support/r4695161-change_wireless_network_password_forgott

Because of the fact that you can connect to your network without cable since it's unsecured you don't need to connect by cable. Skip this part and carry on with going to the routers settings site then to router wireless settings and password change. Remember to choose WPA method of security. Good Luck and please let me know if this was any helpful.

My Router works only if I do not put security password on it.

The router works only if the network is unsecured.
When you secure the wireless network , make sure that you will change the wireless network name also. Because if you change the wireless security and if you keep the same network name then your computer will try to connect to the same network name with the old unsecured settings saved on the computer.
Try to change the SSID ( network name ) and security to WPA, check if that works.
If that doesn't work then I believe you will need to upgrade the FIRMWARE of the router.

Click here for more information about the routers and the wireless network

SECURITY ISSUE ON LAPTOP- UNSECURED ON NETWORK

You didn't specify what router you are using and what type of connection. I assume you are using wireless connection from your laptop. What you need to do is setup security on your router. I can't give you any specifics because I don't know the model of your router. Please read documentation and try to go to wireless security on your router and setup 64-bit WEP then specify 10-digit code. Save your configuration. Try to connect your laptop to the network. If it prompts specify the same WEP security then enter the same 10-digit code. It should work.

Good luck!
