My GE GSL 25JFPABS Refrigerator failed yesterday. No Comressor no evap or condensor fan

Appears main control board has failed. Ohmed 3 sensors. Allread 6.5 k to 7 k ohms. I can hear the relay (largest on board) click but no contact closure. Relay has large stacon connectors near it labeled line , compressor , and htr. Added jumper from line to compressor on compressor started but no condensor fan motor. Condensor fan motor has separate output from main board. Outputs from main board to cond fan motor are, +13v red, yellow/black (unkown function) , white common. 13 vdc is present from red to common. Yellow/black unknown. What starts the condensor fan motor? Should it ot start with the compressor, Sounds like compressor relay has energized and I jumperd relay output. I am assuming evap fan isn't running due to high evap temp.

Fan motor starts with the compressor. Sounds like you need a main board and condenser fan motor. Call GE. It might be covered under warranty. A known issue with certain models. You will also need serial # if you call.

SOURCE: condensor fan motor starts, evap motor tries to

1. GE is replacing many defective boards free of charge. Check with them to see if you are qualified.
2.The start relay should be closed when refrigerator is de-energized.
3. Still a possible bad compressor or compressor start components. Test performed by service tech on compressor is usually done with a starting test cord. Would answer many questions quickly.

Testimonial: "Thank you jackfrost555. My start relay is open when de-energized. Start and run ohms do not indicate an open or shorted winding(S)."

you said a mouth full . any of the 3 would cause freeze up.. so make sure the inside fan (evap fan is working ) . if unit is newer one the control in side fresh food may be bad and the sensor in the freezer. if it does not sense tempt properly the compressor run time is too long causing freeze up . now some times new components fail so ck them . . clean the bottom coils . and make sure the bottom fan is cooling the coils .. mm

My GE refrigerator is not maintaing cold temp in either frig or freezer

Probabilities:
1. Main board, most likely
2. And/or evap. fan motor less likely.
3. Defrost heater, less likely
4. Evaporator thermister, unlikely, but possible
Try defrosting it for 24 hours (by unplugging) and see if it helps.

Freezer is warm at top and cold on the bottom.

Sounds as tho your evap fan is not running. Open door to freezer and should hear a fan running smoothly. If not most of the time the problems is with the main control board on back of refrigerator.

HELP!!__CALLING ANY GE FACTORY TECHS

You say " all thermistors check fine " , how did you check them ? Did you check for the 5-8 DC volts at the main control board , for the thermistors ? Did you do the diagnostic check for the thermistors from the control panel ? I'm sure you know there are 5 thermistors , since the refrig has the dual evap . Possibly the # 5 is bad , since it is the freezer temp " controller " , yet if it tells the board it's not cold enough , it still sends refrigerant to the refrig evap . Since the refrig evap has 2 fan motors , can't remember if there is a damper there also . Maybe when the # 3 thermistor is satisfied , it only cuts the fans off , even though refrigerant is still going thru the refrig evap .

Relay won't stop clicking

Matt, sounds like you have a main board problem here. The main board is on the back side of the refrigerator. If you are handy with a meter you can do some checks. Is the clicking relay coming from the main board? If it is, than it's more than likely your problem. First check the voltage from connector J7-9 (orange wire) to blue harness to the left, terminal marked line. This should have a steady 120V, no fluctuation. If you don't have this, replace the board. You want to make sure that the condensor fan motor and evap fan motor are not shorted. A shorted motor will take out the board. At the fan motors harness, with the power off, if you read less than 1K ohms between white to red or white to yellow it's bad. This is for both the evap and condensor fan motor. The part number for your board is. WR55X10543...Catriver..post back.
