Set has the 3 strikes and you are out= will try 3 times and then goes into shutdown===you have either a power supply problem or a short somewhere.

I had the same problem. Turns out that my color wheel motor went dead. Unfortunately RCA stopped making the part. The good news is that I purchased the replacement plan for the TV, so I ended up buying a Samsung. Best thing I did was the replacement plan!
In addition to the color wheel, the bulb went out twice. Warranty paid for 100% of it. Good thing, the bulbs were $400 a pop.

You may want to change the lamp. It may be on the edge of failing totally.
