Today, for no apparent reason, the picture on our Mitsubishi WD-52525 stopped working correctly. It has been replaced with what seems like hundreds of horizontal green lines. These lines move down the screen in a sort of haphazard scrolling fashion. Behind the green lines is a black screen with a small number of pixels set as white. It sort of resembles a bright star lit night sky behind the green lines. Turning the TV off and on does not help. The sound is still working. The TV device menus appear as normal. However, the DVD produces the same problem.
We have no way of knowing if the Lamp is the problem, because the lamp light has always stayed on since the last time we replaced the lamp and Mitsubishi told us not to worry about it if the set is working fine, which it has for the past 2 years.
When we turn the TV off and then turn it back on again, we get a message that appears at the bottom of the screen that says “Check connections or power. The connectors for RGBHV or YPrPb may be invalid” However, it is unlikely that any of the connectors have been moved or tampered with so I am suspicious of this message”
Any suggestions would be welcome.
I have the Mitsu WD-62525 62" DLP (about 4 years old) and also experienced the yellowish-green horizontal lines on the TV with a background that looked like deep space with some random stars, audio was coming through without problem. I tried other sources (DVD vs Cable) and got the same effect. Mitsu internal TV menus (device selection & Net Command setup) come up fine on screen but nothing else.
After 2 days the lamp will not fire up to even give the horizontal lines. Pulled lamp and it looks fine (have replaced 2 lamps previously). Resetting TV just makes Timer light blink rapidly for less than a minute and then it goes out. Power on TV and it will not make picture, after about 2-3 minutes it powers down automatically and the Lamp light illuminates.
I have no problem pulling boards or replacing capacitors if I can just get some guidance.
Replace all electrolytic
capacitors in the vertical section along with the vertical output IC &
the low ohms fuseable resistor connected to the vcc of vert o/p IC leading
back to the flyback, That will allow the TV to operate normally
which should also restore sound believe it or not.
Where the cable is plugged into the TV, there might be a shorting in the recieving IC (signal reciever of the TV).
Horizontal lines is caused when there is no vertical deflection . Something in the vertical deflection system bad or lose connection yoke, vertical output, vertical osc, or components associated with these devices

There has been a worldwide problem in computers and TVs over the past several years with faulty electrolytic capacitors (from Taiwan) that decay, dry out, swell and die. The power supply is often the first component to go bad, but other systems also degrade over time. As the forum explains , this problem is widespread in these sets causing multiple types of display problems after several years of use. Mitsubishi is aware of the problem and will cover most of the cost of repairing the chassis, even years out of warranty, but apparently ONLY if you get an estimate from a Mitsubishi certified repair station and contact their customer support BEFORE doing any work on the set. I just followed the recommended procedure on that forum and Mitsubishi is covering half the cost of my $700+ repair when my 3+ year-old set recently died and showed only a blue screen. I'm not sure if this is your problem, but it might be.

You need to replace the capacitors on the FMT PWB this is a common problem with the V26 chassis which is what your model number is. They have some bad capacitors that need to be Changed. There is a repair Kit available for the FMT repair.Let me know if you would like the link for the repair Kit. Please respond to this same post if you do want the repair kit which does involve soldering.

There is a problem with the Component video cables and/or connection. These are the 5 RCA cables. Red, Blue, Green and two additonal cables for audio in red and white. Be sure they are connected to the proper ports on each end. Not sure what you have connected to the TV with these cables, but HDMI would be best. You also should have selected "Video" from the Input button on the tv's remote. Check these and follow up if possible.

The post above is my post and somehow and earlier post from "stevesr" on July 9, 2008 also got included. I have a WD-62525 from 2004.
The reply from "findmeifyoucan" is more like multiple guesses than an answer. Since there are at least 2 people with the same problem (probably more) I was hoping to get some experience in the reply. As an engineer myself I already know that an internal circuit has been broken but knowing where to look and some of the common culprits would be helpful.
