hat was not a solution a gary asked for more info. and i dont know how to respond directly to him

I recently picked up a 89 dx and found receipts for autolite plugs as well, and i immediately went and bought some resistor type NGK plugs and my car smoked for a good 3 mins after i started it up (and went into the garage) this is perfectly normal cause the plugs wernt firing correctly. Runs hard and strong now. dont swap out your motor unless you want to.

White smoke from the exhaust is an indication of water getting into the crankcase(engine). There are a couple of different things that can cause this to happen. Have you been loosing coolant, engine overheating? Sorry but I need to know a little more to help you.

No it has not been overheating or losing coolant at all it just has been running rough and poorly (loud) it was not smoking till he took out the old spark plug and put in the new one he said it was smoking out all that had been backed up into the cylinder due to non working spark plugs (there was oil on the spark plug)

Acceleration problem Honda Civic 2018

well it is misfiring so get the car to a shop and get it serviced
like 99.9999% do today (a real show with real tools) seems not.
you have no tools to fix the car and no scan tool
nobody can fix cars lacking the OBD2 scan tool (real)
there are lots of causes. but in school day 1 they say
:bad engine (say compression is 200,.201,202, and 50.PSI (i can do BAR but so can you google PSI to BAR)or KPa.

or bad spark. (bad cops, ?) bad COP boots.
and last bad fueling, misfire felt here is way too rich burn.
in that order.
guessing will be costly and already has.
what if the scan told told you P03xx errors
and was 301. and spark hole #1 , is 50PSI. oops bad engine
or P03xx code for CMP ,and the cam sensor is bad. or cam belt slipped.
what if the P0301 ( my 1 guess) is bad COP, cylinder 1.
there is P03xx code for bad CKP too and P0300 coded means all 4 plugs show misfire. (cam slip or cmp/ckp fails)

1.5T is DOHC engine.

learn to scan he PCM, or go broke fast
the PCM will always see misfire and have DTC P03xx codes
to tell you what's UP, no looking is HUGE FAIL./
code p03 is spark section failure.

RHD car not USA so is UK or one of their infamous Crown colonies
not told. you.
our 1.5L is 2 cams and chain drive, no stinky belt drive good
and low miles is good.
the engine may be VVT got that? if yes it can fail and cause misfire easy and again the scan tool will show that signs of it to a pro.
vvt is called VTC by honda and is complex (more)
VTC is variable valve timing, and the part on the front of the cam can fail for that.
find a real shop this time that knows honda's and VTC and can hold a scan tool.

Honda civic 1998 EX check engine light on codes p300 p0301 p302 p303 p304

I don't think it is your catalytic converter because your light usually flashes and a bad cat I never heard of them causing a misfire. I ran your other code it is for a faulty EGR system. Exhaust gas recirculation excessive. You are getting too much exhaust gas back in the system. This will cause your misfire. Go-to a trusted mechanic and have them check out your EGR system.

We have a '93 honda civic 4 door. Sometimes it won't start. The guys at meineke think it's the relay or connection or fuel pump. What do u there think it is there?

that is a muffler shop where they get paid commissions based on parts sold. go to a real mechanic, he should be able to quickly identify whether you have a fuel supply OR spark problem so as to minimize replacing good parts and head scratching! fuel pressure can be tested, so can fuel pumps.

Replacement spark plugs for 1.5l Civic. (head has been sent for reconditioning, plugs still in head)

As long is it isn't the vetec engine, if you are looking for part numbers the NGK number is 2477. The Bosch number is 4501, That's the ones I would use. Autolite makes a pretty good platnium plug part number AP5224. not sure if that's the info you wanted so I hope it helped anyway.

My malfunction indicator light has been on for the past couple of weeks. I just replaced all the spark plugs and coils about 6 months ago because my light was coming on then. I took it to my local autozone...

Bear in mind that the guys at autozone were delivering news papers two weeks ago and the generic analyzer they use costs less than $45.00. It is a 2004 Honda, you can spend a buck on it. Take it to a real shop with real mechanics and have them put a real analyzer on it.

89 honda civic

Well some spark plugs are better than others for certain cars and Autolite plugs are not recommended for hondas. As far as oil showing on the plugs the more likely indication is that the valve guides have gone bad on the engine. A good sign of bad valve guides is if the car smokes more when you first start it after it has been sitting overnight. The Proper way to test for a sound engine is to do a compression test on the cylinders, that way you have a percise check on the overall health of the engine(for a mechanic to say otherwise is not a good sigh). If the car does have bad valve guides it is not threatening to the healh of the engine. You biggest problem from faulty guides is that it will cause you spark plugs to foul(oil soaked) and not fire as well as it should, In my opinion and without having the results of a compression test I think that valve guides is you proplem and not a "bad engine". The reason for your car smoking more after the new plugs is that they are able to burn the oil and you older autolites could not. My biggest and most important recommendation is that you never go back to that mechanic again.
