If, when not plugged into the system, only the wall, the AC adapter LED doesn't come on and the adapter beeps, then it has failed and will require replecement. If the computer is still under warranty, the adapter is covered under the warranty.

If not covered under warranty, then buy a new AC adapter.

If the LED comes on when not plugged into the system, but goes out when connected to the portable, then the motherboard may be bad.

SOURCE: Charger for E1705 beeps and no green light

You are describing a classic wiring short circuit. Either the cables of your power supply or the jack on the laptop itself are damaged and need to be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage. There is no logical reason it would work only in certain outlets, that is probably just coincidental to the way you have the cable running while plugged in to each outlet.

Your power supply has two cables, the side leading to the AC outlet is removeable and easily replaced but the side leading to the laptop's jack is not. Start with the AC plug. Leaving everything from the 'brick' to the laptop in a stable position, gently flex the AC cable until you see evidence of the short (usually a break in the wire, possibly chewed by the dog or snagged on the edge of a desk). If so, replace the AC wire. If not, try the same with the laptop side of the brick. If so you usually should replace the entire power supply unless you are real handy with a soldering iron.

If moving the position of the two power supply cables doesn't identify the short, you must suspect the laptop's jack of being loose. This is worst of all because the laptop motherboard has to be removed to gain access to resolder the jack, a professional job that will run probably $100.

Bosch charger not charging

Its sounds simple but always worth a try, clean all the contacts on the charger, one will read the condition of the battery, If this is dirty, it may not be giving a strong enough signal to the charger and as such it will interpret the battery as faulty.

How do I know that the GPS is charging. The light is green when pluged in. Should it not be red then go green Lorraine

On a Nuvi 200W, when you plug in the charger, the battery status icon should go away indicating that you are no longer on battery power and that you are now running on an external power source. You should also hear a beep when you plug in the charger.

To go into charge mode, move the on/off switch to the left like you would be going to turn it off but only hold it on long enough until you hear it beep or the screen goes black and says "Battery Charging". When the battery is fully charged, touching the screen, it should say "Battery Charge Complete". If its not fully charged, touching the screen, it will say that it's still in charge mode.

Dell laptop charger

If the charger is older and since you saw the light go on then off again, it could just be the charger wires. Assuming your charger has a black box attached to it, try pushing the cord in towards the black box (usually the end leading to your laptop) . If that doesn't work, wiggle the cord in that area. If this works, your problem is simply the wire is worn out. You can fix it by exposing the inside wire where the bad connection is, snip it, reconnect and cover with electrical tape. I just did this to my sister's last week.
