I just bought this unit on boxing day. I'm able to use it on Windows 2000 now.
The root cause is the YP-U3 you have uses MTP (media transfer protocol) instead of UMS (USB mass storage). MTP is supported under Windows XP with media player 10. But WMP10 doesn't install on Windows 2000.

Download the exe file at the end of this article. During installation, copy the extracted file under your temp directory (c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp by default) somewhere else. Then cancel the installation.
Now when you plug in the YP-U3, manully locate the inf file in the directory you copied. Ignore the warnings. After you install the mtp driver, you should be able to use it with SMS (Samsung Media Studio).

is this mp3 player is a plug and play. if not you cannot just copy/phase the file you need to install the software fist that comes with the mp3 player after installing it you have to import all the songs you want to that application and syncronice your device then walla! so when the mp3 is hooked up and windows media player is open there is a long box on the side of the screen and drag the songs you want into the box and when you got all the song in the box press start sinc. and with the itunes problem put a blank CD in the computer and open up itunes there is a small button on the bottom of the screen that says burn and it will put all the songs on the CD then close itunes and rip the song from the CD on to the computer and then just drag the songs like on the first step i told you.
