I Have A Compaq Presario That Will Not Power Up.

Does the computer make running sounds? If so it could be there is an issue with the LCD screen. If not it could be bad RAM or the Motherboard is having issues.

Battery is needed to complete circuit. Too bad you didn't have the old one.

If the computer is not turning on, there is a big chance of hardware failure and normally there is no easy fix for this rather than a motherboard replacement.

greetings ans salutations keyenonta1 as for the flashing of the battery indicator it means that the computer has shutdown with 5% or 10% battery life and it is telling you to supply more power for further use.
as for your computer not charging i would leave it alone for 1 whole day in a nice DRY area. then i would take the battery out, plug in the computer and hold down the power button, if it works then put the battery pack in and continue life.

you can remove your side cover,and unplug everything from your power supply. then if you plug in your computer and the light still flashes it's your power supply. If not it's something that it is powering. Most likely it's your motherboard. I had this happen to me when there was a power surge/ outage and my computer wasn't even on.

1#turn off the computer and uplug the power cable from the computer and then hold the power button for 20 second then turn on the computer and the momment you back to desktop screen

Sounds like the power converter that is probably on the motherboard, so you may be looking at a new motherboard. Hard to tell without seeing it in person, but you can take it some place locally and they can troubleshoot power issues for you. GL!

Try the following:
1. If connected to surge protector, make sure it's on. If it is, then...
2. Try plugging computer directly into wall and turn on...if no then...
3. Unplug and plug the power cord back in and then try to turn on...if nogo then...
4. If there's a switch on the back of your pc that has 120/240. Switch it back and forth back from 240 back to 120, turn on again...if no go then...
5. Unplug everything from the back of your pc except power cord, keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Try again. If it still doesn't turn on.. let me know. By chance, has any power outage occured or any change been done to pc since it was last turned on?

Try laptop without battery first to see if powers on. Could be memory issue of battery as might have been off for a while. Place battery back in if starts up. Then see if charging up and if computer switches on or off.
If fails again, unplug power and battery and open underneath the where the memory is located and try to unplug memory and plug back in. Try power supply then. If works, great! If not, you will have to take into a service center to check inside if motherboard or battery need replacing.

Sounds like the hard drive has had a failure, you need to get a replacement one, and reinstall it, along with the opperating system, and any other programs that were on the old one.
