Dlink wireless router, shows up, can't connect

We moved our offices, since then our dlink model # D1524 shows up on our network, we can't connect to it. it has no ip address on the router itself, nor do we have the original manual. any suggestions?

  • Ghodmode Jan 22, 2009

I suddenly lost the ability to connect wirelessly to my DI-524. I thought it might be a problem with security, so I temporarily disabled the security and couldn't even connect to it when it was wide open.

I am able to connect to other wireless networks.

The manual can be downloaded from the dlink website;
ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/di_broadband_gateways/di-524/di-524_manual.pdf

you are also able to get a couple of utilities from the dlink website; it's a very long link but this is the location for the relevent files.

http://www.dlink.co.uk/?go=jN7uAYLx/oIJaWVdDbgYU93ygJVYLelXSNvhLPG3yV3oVYx+g6ltbNlwaaRp7jksED2onGQTo48EE5+3n/K9K0MH8LubPtqzEMT8pnRbyctCCrpHKcCVuErk6TGEOcGXYPgp/FUnrIBfqygTYYTwlmHkgyBavmKsERo=

the formatting is messed up but just copy and paste into you web browser.

Did you enter the security key (password)? It may be your laptop? Try resetting the D-Link to default settings and connecting to the laptop. They reconfigure the SSID and Security Key. Write down the info for future use. Here's a user Manual: http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/home-solutions/connect/routers/dir-600-wireless-n-150-home-router

Dsl works when connected directly to laptop, does not work via dlink but airport shows a signal

This is a common problem with this router. Try to update the firmware from dlink.com and reboot the router after the update. Also the range is not great with this router, so you may have problems if you're only in the next room. The only solution with this model - short of getting a different router is to restart the router when there's no wireless connection - sometimes multiple times (turn off for 1 minute, then turn it on again). Besides that there's not much you can do - it's just not a good product.

HI! to secure the dlink wireless network, u need to access the setup page of the router, pull up a browser and type in at the url:192.168.0.1 and it will ask the username and password, by default the username is admin and password, just leave it blank and it will show the setup page, on the left side select on wireless settings and manual settings, you can select any option here on what type of security u will set. once setting is done u have to save the settings.. once done u have to connect ur wireless computer to the secured wireless network that u create it will ask the password and connect

D-Link Air DWL 650 connecting to my Dlink router

You need to go into the wireless driver advanced properties and set the SSID, WEP Key, channel and others. Wherever there is an 'auto' option, choose it.

I never got the dlink utility to work. I let windows manage it and change the device settings in advanced props.

Dlink not working on my computer that receives signal

visible & unavailable means that the wireless security settings are not the same on the recently formatted computer, as on the rest of the network.
Open the wireless configuration for any computer that can connect to the network and copy the security settings (wep or higher) to the unconnecting pc
OR
connect to the router by cable from the non-connecting pc, use the web interface at http://192.168.0.1 to read the security settings, and copy the settings to the unconnecting pc

then it will connect
