Need multi zone code for Blu ray drive (Pioneer BDC-TD04)
Major studios in the world would prefer dividing the world into different areas with region codes, so that they are able to make greater profits by controlling and fixing prices in a specific market locked to its region code.
You don't need to get a region-free Blu-ray drive. You can download some other region free players on your laptop. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player for free. This is a region free player and it can play any kind of DVD and Blu-ray discs.
DVD REGION FREE & BLUE-RAY REGION FREE
To changethe Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware -Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVDdrive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have beenmade.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the4th change.
If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmwareto make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrongfirmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece ofsoftware (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region andPasskey for Blu-ray that allows you to play Blu-rays from any region. There areseveral available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free From: -

POSSIBLE solution... (don't shoot the messenger on this one, lol!)
I'm sure you have tried, but have you cleaned your optics lately? The best thing about Blu-ray is that it uses a much narrower laser beam to read the data, so more "stuff" can fit on a disk... however, this leaves far less room for error. It may be able to read a DVD, since the DVD's "grooves" are much wider, and a CD's "grooves" are like the grand canyon compared to Blu-ray...
Using a Q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol, and GENTLY rotate the swab across the lens, rotating it in the opposite direction you are wiping. This should "lift" any dust or grime from the lens. I would also clean the tray with a soft lint-free cloth (using an air-can just moves the dirt around, doesn't solve the problem)
Hope this helps!
