Cannot copy files Parameter Incorrect

I have a JVC HDD Camcorder. I have a lot of movie files on it. Most I have been able to transfer to my computer using the program that came with this camcorder. However, there are some files it will stop transferring and put up an error message Cannot copy files (file name) Parameter Incorrect. I have looked at file size for other ones transferred and some of the ones that won't transfer are the same size or smaller than ones that did transfer. I also have some that are really large (ie, recorded for an hour straight), Could the size of these files cause this message for all of them? It's making me crazy and really regretting I ever bought this JVC HDD camcorder!
Thanks
B

Most likely the issue is that your trying to copy files over 4gb to fat32 disks, and this causes the parameter incorrect -issue. Try formatting the drive your copying to ntfs, this can handle +4gb files.

Can't transfer videos from JVC Everio camcorder onto my MAC

Share: How to import .tod files from JVC Everio HDD Camcorder to iMovie?

Requirements: iMovie (Part of the iLife 08 package)

Step 1: Connect the Everio to the Mac (Via USB)
Make sure you are powering the Everio from the mains before connecting your JVC Everio Camcorder.

Step 2: Playback on PC
Select “Playback on PC” on the Everio, once connected you will see the Everio HDD symbol appear on the desktop. The video files on the Everio are stored in the SD Folder/PRG***/MOV***.MOD.

Step 3: Open iMovie
Once you open iMovie, you will see that it recognizes the Everio straight away and will attempt to import your video.

You are now ready to use iMovie to edit your video files.

If need change .tod files to common video formats like mov, mp4, m4v, mpg, mpeg, dv, flv, avi, wmv, 3gp, mkv, mp3, aac, wma, m4a, etc. Mod Tod Video Converter for Mac is a good choice. The program can also convert mod tod to ipod, mod tod to iphone, tod to apple tv, tod to blackberry and more devices!

Transferring video from JVC to computer

Does the Camcorder show as a new drive in your 'My Computer' list of drives? Ie C drive D drive and possibly a weirdly named one is the one you're after. You should be able to find the videos in the folders contained on that new drive. Trouble finding it? Open mycomputer with it unplugged, then plug in camera like you're going to download stills, and watch for a new drive to appear. You will have to look through out the folders until you find the videos :o) Hope this helps you,

Transfering from jvc-hd7 to computer

You should be getting .tod files, not .mov files. The resulting files are of the type MOVxxx.tod, where xxx is a hexidecimal number. You then convert the .tod files (for PC's only) to .mpg files with the Cyberlink PowerDirector software that came with your camera (on the CD).

Hope this helps.

Error Messages.

Hi, did you try downloading your videos through the included software? It should work best using the included PowerCinema NE for Everio. If you are using windows Vista, then you need to download a patch. Here is the link: http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/update_everioM7SD/pcm4e_update.htm
Make sure you have PowerCinema NE for Everio installed before applying the patch. After this, follow a few simple steps. Turn off your camcorder. Connect the USB cable to the computer then to the camcorder. Then, turn it on. The software should load automatically, and using that you should be able to download the files. You might need administrator rights for this.

Hope this helps,
Eric
