SOURCE: Presario F700 Wireless

I just had the same problem today and fixed it with HP tech support. Try this: at bootup, hit F10 to go into BIOS mode. At the BIOS screen, hit F9 which loads the factory setup. Exit and Save. They asked me to reload the Broadcom driver and Nvidia driver but I didn't have to. My was a F700 running windows Vista. Good luck.

SOURCE: Wireless connection will not work on Compaq

It happens a lot, mine has a problem that sometimes it will connect, and sometimes it won't, and other people's just won't work at all. I thought mine's wasn't ever gonna work again, so I decided to buy a USB port wifi external connector, and that's what I'm gonna use when this one in this compaq finally dies. I recommend you do the same, it might save you some bucks since my best guess is that installing a new on the laptop would cost a lot more.

I bought this computer 5-6 years ago. And it has been in the box since. Is it capable of wireless connection

It is not wireless capable out of the box. However, it has 2 free PCI slots for an internal wireless card and several USB ports for a USB wireless adapter.

I hope this helps.

Hi,i have a hp g6000 laptop with a compaq f700 motherboard fitted.the laptop works fine, but does not recognise the dual core processor or wireless card(not show in device manager with wireless button on or...

The reason it shows the compaq logo is because that is the motherboard you have installed. HP is just your case if I am reading your question properly. Did you custom build this? Which processor is in it? Probably the wireless card isn't being recognized because of your 64 bit operating system. Windows 7 has a lot of hardware driver problems right now.

Start by going to add new hardware wizard. When it detects evrything tell it that the hardware is already installed and look for it in the list. Click on it and let the wizard load drivers from the internet for it. Let me know what happens.
