Yesterday, I descaled the coffee maker. Today I put 1/2 and 1/2 in the cup, then put under the dispenser just like I have been doing for 1 yr. The milk curdled. I tried this 3 times. Th 4th time I nuked the milk first, then put coffee in. Still curdled. What's up.???

Run two or three reservoirs full of plain water through the machine to rinse out the descaler, which is acidic.

Acid curdles milk.

I have a illy x7.1 and wil not come in the descaling mode

There is another process to get into descale mode on some 7.1 machines. I got this from Illy Support:
Descale Cycle
• Turn off machine
• So the usual filling if container with descale fluid
• Turn machine on and within 15 seconds from power on – press and hold in the big cup
button until it gives 4 acoustic signals and then release your finger.
• The big blue cup button should now be flashing
• Press the big blue cup button once – the machine will now dispense water intermittently
from the coffee group head and the steam arm and the steam and coffee button will be
flashing alternately
• Once the descaling cycle has completed it will give out a long acoustic signal
• The coffee button will continue to flash
Rinsing Cycle
• Remove the water tank – wash out and fill with clean fresh water just over the MAX level
• Empty the container holding 1 litre of water and reinstate back under coffee group head and
point steam arm in container.
• Press the flashing big cup button once
• Water will again dispense intermittently from group head and steam arm
• An acoustic signal will sound out as soon as the rinsing cycle is complete.
• The Big Blue coffee button will be steadily lit
• Remove 1 litre container.
• Remove water tank – clean and refill with clean water

–red light should now be off and ready to make coffee

When I press the espresso button instead of esspreso makes a long coffe .I must ad I descaled it yesterday .

You may have accidentally changed the amount setting for your espresso shot when resetting the descale counter.

If you lost the manual you can find one here.
http://www.gaggia-usa.com/support_docs/Gaggia_Brera_Quickstart_Guide.pdf

On page 11 (with the printed number 31) you find how to change these settings:

• Place a cup under the dispensing spout.
• Hold the "espresso size" button pressed for 5 seconds to enter the programming mode; the "coffee" icon will blink quickly and the coffee will start to be brewed; the icon will flash during the whole coffee brewing cycle.
• Press the same "espresso size" button again when the amount of coffee in the cup reaches the desired level.
At this point the button "espresso size" is programmed; each time it is pressed and released, the machine will brew the same amount of coffee that was just programmed.
The same operation can be repeated for the "Lungo size" button.

Pump is running but no water is being drawn from the reservoir

I haven't had this happen where nothing is being dispensed, but if you have small portions being dispensed or the pump is noisy, I tried 2 things that work for me:
1) remove the reservoir and over your kitchen sink, with water still inside the reservoir, use your pinky finger, small chopstick, etc, and gently push the inlet valve a few times from underneath to let water out. After about 2-3 months, our unit seems to stick (rubber seal that closes),
2) put some vinegar into the reservoir with some water and run the unit about 3-4 times on largest cup setting. Clean out the reservoir, replenish with fresh water and run the unit another 6 times. Believe me, you need to flush the vinegar out well, otherwise any residue in your coffee will not only taste bad, it will curdle your milk/cream. I've had my B70 Platinum for 15 months making about 8 cups everyday, Hope this helps..:D

What's the recipe for coffee ice cream

Ingredients:
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 2 tablespoons espresso liqueur
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream

Put the condensed milk in a bowl and stir in the espresso powder and liqueur. In a separate bowl, whisk the cream until it reaches soft peaks. Fold the cream into the condensed milk mixture, then pour this gorgeous caffe latte-colored airy mixture into an airtight container and freeze for 6 hours or overnight. Serve straight from the freezer.

This is the best procedure to make a coffee ice cream.

Saeco Incanto -- no coffee coming out

After I posted this I decided to descale the machine again, even though I'd just done it a couple of weeks ago. After descaling and rinsing I tried running water through the brew group by pressing the pre-ground button, then holding down the big cup button. Still no water, but then I turned the little knob on the coffee dispenser counterclockwise, about half a turn. It worked! I rinsed it well, then made a cup of delicious espresso.
