Hotpoint TDC32 dryer door safety switch

My Hotpoint dryer will not stop working/spinning when you open the door. You have to switch off at the mains each time to get it to stop. Is there a safety switch for the door and if so how do i check / change it?

I removed the switch. Should there be any wire/wires attached to it as it just seemed to come out on its own after removing 1 screw.

Look inside frame by door take out switch and replace it

Testimonial: "Thanks for your help and quick response. I took the switch out (held in with 1 screw and on spposite side to hinges). Should anything be attached to it, i.e; a wire of any kind as the switch, rectangular in shape, came out without having to unplug anything. How does it work?"

Remove condenser, and flush it out under a running tap, or hose pipe with cold water, this will flush all the fluff out of the condenser

SOURCE: my dryer smells like burning rubber when i open the door

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be the belt has slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn and produce a burning rubber smell.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

HOTPOINT AQUARIUS RANGE DRYER DRUM NOT SPINNING UNLESS YOU OPEN DOOR AND GIVE IT A PUSH

belt tensioner could have a broken spring on it or motor is going bad. It could be a problem with the belt being stretched or oily but probably not- check first.

I have a tumble dryer.

Sounds as if the door switch is the problem. This is normally a safety switch that stops the dryer when the door is opened.
Unplug the dryer.
Remove the door switch and check the switch condition with a continuity meter after removing the wires. Try turning the switch on and off....the meter should read power on and off when you do that.
You may have to remove the front of the dryer to get to the door switch.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

try fuse on plug this may be gone, also the door interlock switch, try a light bang with fist near door catch see if this will do it, what i do suspect is the door inerlock is faulty, this is a safety device which locks the door when machine is in washig/spinning mode it aso stops machine working when you open the door, this is also a safety device, good luck al. xxxx
