My dell inspiron 1545 won't start, I have pressed and held the power button in, it is even plugged into the wall. I have taken the battery out and put it back in, still no luck.

Removed your battery and charger then hold the power button for at least 10 seconds then replaced battery and charger.. good luck

One temporary solution is to remove the battery for a while until all the capacitors in the unit discharge. Upon replacing the battery, you get one good power up try. Notice that the date and time have reset. Once you turn off the unit and try to power it up again, the problem comes back and you must again remove the battery for a while. There may be a patch to fix the boot loader, but I have not found it yet.

Hibernation permanently

Yep, pull the plug. Power Cord, remove the battery, then press the Power Button and hold it for 15 seconds.

Next time you boot up go into the Control Panel and check your Power Options. You can set it to never hibernate.

Where is the sleep button on dell inspiron 1545 laptop

Please follow the steps mentioned below to set 'Power buttons and lid' options to sleep by using the power button and Closing the lid.

Go to start screen
Type in like this " power options"
Select power options from the search results
Select "Change plan settings" under the plan the radio button is selected.
Select "Change advanced power settings"
Change the options available of the 'Power buttons and lid'
Click OK.

when you start the computer hit control and f11 then release them at the same time. In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore. Alternatively, press <Tab> to highlight Restore, and then press <Enter>. When a warning message appears stating that all data will be lost, clickConfirm, or press <Tab> to highlight Confirm and then press <Enter>.
The Progress window will appear. Once the restore process starts, Dell PC Restore by Symantec usually takes about 8 to 10 minutes to finish.
Click Finish or press <Tab> to highlight Finish and then press <Enter> to restart the computer.The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. That will hard-shut the PC. Once that is done, fire it back up, and try again. Somethimes, windows will act goofy shutting down. Especially Vista when it is left on too long without shutting it down.

Have you tried power drain? The easiest way to resolve this type of issue is by performing a power drain. Here's how you will do it.

1. First, turn off the unit completely. You may try pressing the power button for about 15-20 seconds.

2. Remove the unit from the power outlet.

3. Take out the battery from the system.

4. Press the power button for about 15-20 seconds.

5. Put back the battery and plug the unit to the power outlet.

6. Turn on the system and observe it.
