Stop kenwood KDC-mp239 loosing radio settings with ignition off

I have been advised to cross over the power wires on this radio cd player when fitted to a European car (Holden Barina) to prevent the radio station settings from being dropped when the ignition is switched. This seems electrcially dangerous however when the wiring is matched colour for colour and the ignition is switched off, the tuning for the radio stations is lost. Any comments?

You have two power leads bringing battery power into the radio. One is switched off when the ignition is off and the other power lead is always on. That second one is the one you may have wired wrong. You need to check that one out to make sure it stays on when the key is turned off. Good luck.

Kenwood KDC-319 CD Player Logo Problem with KDC-319 CD Player installed a kenwood kdc 319 in a 04 chevy malibu when i have car off i turn deck on an my cars dash board lights turn on Posted by A

I would start by disconnecting the radio and hooking it up right, the power should go through the ignition switch. So that when you turn the car off the radio will go off and to hear it on again you have to turn the key to accessory or start it.That might take care of a few of your problems.

Kenwood kdc-mp239 car stereo overheating

Did you change the speakers, usually this happen because of the Ohms. Let me explain you, The factory radios are usally 8 Ohms and must of the aftermarket speakers are 4 Ohms or less so if you put 4 Ohms in a radio designed to work with 8 Ohms of coures is going to get hot first and them you burn it out.

Got a new Kenwood KDC-128 car radio recently, fitted it but the radio presets would not stay when the ignition was turned off. Then it stopped working altogether and I noticed the 10amp fuse at the back...

you need to hook the yellow wire off the back of the radio up straight to the battery this keeps memory power to the head unit then wire the wires in color coded sequence red to red black to black so on and so forth if this doesnt fix it you might want to think about replacing head unit

Wiring for a kenwood kdc 1020 cd player

if you have the wire connector it's easy.....give the negative conection to the body of the player..find the wire from the battery with has the power supply even when the switch is off..and connect it to the yellow wire.that is for the memory...find the wire which has the power when the switch is on ,and connect it to the red wire from the player....what i mean by switch is the ignition switch... u can easily find the speaker connections...most speaker wires comes as blue,ash,green,white...there are two wires from each colour......

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!
