My portable cd player is acting weird all of a sudden! HELP!!!!

Okay, the only working cd player I have is acting up. Every time I put a disc in and press play, it doesnt spin, just makes weird noises like its trying to spin. And those two dashes that come up when its loading the disc, just blink forever, then after a while they stop and all you see is "Er". I have tried everything I know. Cleaning the lense, blowing inside just to make sure its not dusty, changing the batterys, making sure the controls are on right, and every disc I put in there is brand new. Help me!!! I cant live with out my music!!!!

Try gently moving the laser assembly forward or back, it might just be stuck and unable to move back to the home position. Is the laser all the way to the middle?

You need to open it up to check the parts inside. First look around to see if there is any plastic parts that are damaged. This might account for the noises inside. If you can not see anything wrong. Get a magnifying glass or lens and look at the lazer lens. Make certain the power is NOT on for any of these tests. If you see any odd light patterns or damage on the lazer lens it will not play discs. Unless it was an expensive model it will not be worth repairing if the lens is damaged. Do not open the unit if the model is still under warranty. In which case contact the maker of the unit.

Trutech portable DVD player says 'no disc' all the time

You have problem with lease assembly. It may work if you clean it. You may use laser cleaner disk or take it apart and clean the lens with alcohol.

WILL NOT PLAY A DISC

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this solution it might work for you.

Stops Playing: screen freezes

My friend suggested I clean the dvd optical reader lens inside the player with a fine brush (like a camera brush with a blower bulb). This seemed to help immensely. I'm not certain if this is just a temporary fix, but it seems to be ok so far.

Mintek mdp1770 portable dvd player

Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Other than that there is little that can be done. The optics are having trouble reading the disc. You can confirm this by trying a music CD. If the CD works, it is a good indication that the optics are starting to fail.
