Mitsubishi WS-65809 turns off right away

I have a Mit. WS-65809. Power comes on for a second or two with no picture or sound, then clicks back off. Worked fine previously with minor converge problem that would resolve itself after 20-30 seconds. Some suggest to replace power supply, others suggest a oil or gel? from a CRT tube has leaked onto the signal board, and therefore need to replace the board. Not sure if my model has CRTs or not. I'm going to check to see if I have any liquid on the board.

    the tv just turned off

I have just experienced the same problem with my TV. Green light for a couple of seconds, zapping type noise and then goes out. Sounds like some good advise here. I would consider myself pretty tech savy but I have never done anything with resistors or fuses with a TV. Does anyone have any pictures as to what the different solutions might look like in terms of where they are located? I have opened up the front panel but definitely don't know where to look.

The tv will not come on.Only the timer lite is on.It is blinking green. What shall I do. I called mitsubishi only to be told to call a repairman. I am totally frustrated with the whole ordeal. Please help me.

Same as other users - TV green light comes on, then goes off with no picture or sound. This is the second experience I've had of the same problem, (the first occurred 8/21/07 - the second occurred December 8,2007, after the original 3-month warranty expired following the repairs on 8/21/07. Told by A-1 Sales & Service it was the "intergrated circuit system #STK393-110" which was replaced. Paid $265,.00 for part and repairs in August.) Mitsubishi manufacturer notified of latest malfunction, said they "might" pay for the second repair. Will know when repair service arrives on 12/31/07. HOW CAN A PRICEY PART FOR A HIGH-END PRODUCT SUCH AS MITSUBISHI WIDESCREEN LAST ONLY 3 MONTHS?

There is a resistor by the high voltage transformer,it has low value and it opens for no reason,he is likely open and does not let the set stay on,if you are familiar with tv service you can replace it and while you are down there check for any over heated areas and resolder them specially the convergence IC.This resistor is located in the back edge of the chassis in the board in the right side and it might be hidden by a plastic casing that covers the high voltage transformer. If you are not too familiar with tv service you should seek the help of a servicer.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

A friend suggested thatI unplugged the TV from the wall and leave it off for 24 hours. I did that and the TV came back for about 5 minutes then goes off again.

  • Anonymous Feb 27, 2008

I posted solution #3 above. I had the same problem you guys had so I turned the TV off for about 2 or 3 weeks. Now it's working fine like before. I don't know what happened but if you can afford to leave the TV off for a while, try it.

I had the same prob w/ my Mits 65 rear proj. Refused to turn on, light only blinked. Was able to correct for free. Opened access panel & noticed wood holding 3 main lenses (Red,Green,Blue) was loose/warping. Tight'nd everything up with a phillips. Problem solved and picture is better than ever. While at it I dusted off interior. Check your tv b4 calling someone. Sometimes the solution is simple.

Tv turns right off seconds after turning it on, green timer light comes on and goes off, no picture comes on or sound

thats a sign of worn out capacitors.. have your TV checked by a technician.. then can easily fix it by changing capacitors.. capacitors are cheap..

Green light flikering

Replace all 7 capacitors in the DM Module on the DM Power Supply Board. If it is similar to the WS-65869 and WS-65513 it will have a metal enclosed DM Module at far left of chassis, looking from rear. About 4 or 5 connectors, screws, and Module slides out. Take top shield off. Take good notes or use digital camera or video recorder to make re-assembly easy. These capacitors are 1000uf@16 volts. They always check good, just replace them! After re-assembly plug AC in and wait 90 seconds or more (green Timer LED will stop blinking), then press Power button. If Timer LED doesn't stop, look for small pinhole (System Reset) and press switch with pen or small screwdriver, then wait for green LED to stop blinking. Then Power On TV.

Turn on the TV and only Timer light is on , no sound & picture

press the menu and input/device buttons both in together on the front of the set and hold for 5 seconds and then see if the set blinks a number of blink pauses and then blinks another number such as 2 blink pause 2 blinks which would be a 22 caode. It then repeats that code.

Powering up tv

its most likely has a 22 error blink, if menu and device are pressed together and held for 5 seconds to activate the self diagnosis feature. which would indicate short protect.
