Hello,

This should be pretty easy to fix. I have seen this many times before. Here's what to do:

Go into device manager and expand 'universal serial bus controllers'.

Start at the very bottom, and start deleting the usb root hubs one by one. You will lose your touchpad control at some point, as the touchpad is actually a usb device. One of thwo things will happen.

1. The usb hubs will automatically be re-detected and re-installed.
2. You will just lose touchpad control after deleting one of the root hubs. If this happens, then shut down using the power button, and restart. Th usb hubs will be reinstalled once you log back into windows. Please let me know if this doesn't fix it.

Joe

SOURCE: USB ports not working Acer Aspire laptop

Two solutions would be to either restore your pc to before the problem started, using system restore on accesories menu, or use the recovery cd or the recovery folder Acer laptops usually have on the 'D' drive and re-install usb controllers and drivers.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion zv6000:

After reading the description, I think you need to try updating BIOS and latest device drivers for USB. Because USB are getting power on that means there would not be any fault to from the motherboard.

So please try updating latest BIOS for your notebook.
If you can provide me the product no for your notebook and the operating system which you are using currently then I can find the one for you.

Otherwise you can also do the same.

Type in the product no. on www.hp.com. Then go to software and driver download page, select the proper OS and search in BIOS ROM pack available for your notebook.

I hope this will help.

There would be sync button at the bottom of the mouse. Press and hold that button for 10 seconds while keeping the mouse inline with the receiver. Do let me know if that helps.

Any device connected through the usb ports causes the computer to freeze. I've reloaded the O.S and other drivers but it still does the same thing.

the best way is not to use usb mouse because 85% problems created by usb mouse.
if you want to use usb mouse and other things the good way is to buy a 4-port hub and plug the usb mouse in it and other things. and hope it will work for you

Don't know whow to install my new PNY flashdrive 1GB attache'premium USB 2.0 drive

Some questions first. Does your system detect a new hardware? If yes, then do the following. If your flash drive comes with a CD, insert it then try installing( the software needed might be in there).
If your system doesnt detect your flash, then it might be that your usb port has been disabled from the Bios settings. But first check your Device Manager to see if your usb ports are working well ( From Control panel- system-Device Manager). If everything is working properly in the device Manager, then call on a technician to look at the Bios settings so as not to complicate things.
