If you recently updated programs you are printing from such as Adobe Acrobat, you may need to upgrade the physical memory of the printer to achieve good print speed.

Always update drivers and printer software first.
then go to print software and check on the quaity setting, place at a lower setting, even draft to see if it speeds up.

Check your settings in software. When you click file, then print, click properties. software settings overwrite control panel settings. dpi also affects speed. Check paper size guides in paper tray and verify with software settings as well. Also verify if it is occurring with one particular document/program or from any other document/program. Update any program software with the latest version, patch, etc... If you have updated your printer driver software from what was originally used (ie using newer version or switched from PCL5 to PCL6 ) try downgrading. Remember whenever you change printer driver, you must uninstall/delete driver completely, reboot and then install new driver.

I saw in other post, possible solution for this. It may be that media size setting in printer driver is incorrect.

More details, what kind of document are you printing, what format, what driver, what software are you printing from. If you are printing full page color photographs those can take a long time to print. Make sure all updates for software and firmware of printer is up to date as well.

Printer takes forever to print

How is the printer connected to your computer(s)?
If it is USB or network. Try a different cables.

Does your computer run slow also? Low disk space can cause print jobs to print slowly.

Network issues can cause slow printing as well. If your printer is on network and there is a mismatch of 10/100 Mbps speed or Half/Full duplex, the printing can be slow.

If your OS is Windows, remove the printer from Printers and Faxes. Uninstall the driver package if installed separately. Download the latest drivers and install them and reinstall the printer.

Printer slow to print envelopes through mail merge

This sounds more like a software bottleneck than a printer problem although if printer memory is skimpy and your application is using it for the merge function, additional memory in the printer (it is normally expandable) may help speed things.
The printer cannot make up speed if it isn't getting the data from the computer. If its speed is as rated for simple printing, the printer is likely innocent in the slowdown.

Printing speed slow

Try to run a clear server on your imagepass. (unless that is what you meant by clearing RAM)

You also may wish to restart the M3.

If you have a support contract, ask your dealer to upgrade or reinstall your fiery system software.

Speed of printing barcodes

Generally the ZM 400 can cope with printing at the lower speeds when printing barcoedes that are the same. You may get pauses if the barcodes are sequential numbers or are all different, then the data to be transfered to the printer cannot cannot keep up with the printer and pauses while it gets more data. We have found that if you can select in your labelling software to print the barcode as a graphic, then it speed up quite a lot. It is a matter of matching your print speed and quality to match your expectations, sometimes you will just have to put up with the pauses.

Slow Printing

it may just be a slow printer head, maybe an upgrade is in order. look on the box for page printing speed.
it may also be that you have the resolution set too high for basic printing. try turning this down slightly.

hope this helps.

PRINTER SPEED

The printer can only print as fast as the information is "spooled" to it from your computer. If the computer is old, slow or just plain busy, the print speed can be affected.

Look in the printer driver/spooler settings to make sure things 'begin printing after last page is spooled' are set correctly.

You can also remove the printer from your printers list and download the driver from the Epson web site. Reinstalling with the new driver may help if the old driver has been affected in some way.
