Prayfully the fuse inside the tv took a little shock and broke ...if not that would leave the transformer or the board took a surge also but this would also depend on a little more details...

was the power surge damaged?
was tv plug damaged?
does the power surge still work (if it wasn't damage)
and not all power surges are power surges unless it specified of purchase most are like power surges but are only close to and a extended extention cord updated..

if the power surge is damaged or even still works then go have the fuse check and any further damage will also show up on the board it will have a burned part...

Two vizio TV's with issues

Take them to a TV repair centre as they are complex to repair. You may find that your homeowner insurance will pay for the repairs if you can demonstrate that it was a power surge that damage them.

Good day! We were watching TV when suddenly lightning occurred and our TV also turned off. What is wrong with this?

will tv turn back on. if not then it was sturck by lightning. i found that it does not have to hit directly.it can be caused by a power serge. witch means repair costs. when you get it fixed you need to by a power surge prower cord and plug your tv into it an all other things you don't won't sturck.

Blinking red light in front of tv (lamp) and noise coming from tv as well.

Hi,
The Lamp light of the TV blinks when the Lamp of the TV requires replacement. The model # of the user replaceable lamp block is XL-2200. You can download the manual of the TV by clicking here. Refer to page # 76 of the manual for further information. Follow the steps below to perform a power reset first:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

37 inch tv wont power on - remote or manually. This occured after thunderstorm and lightning but TV is on grounded surge protector

Verify that the outlet in the surge suppressor's outlet are still working, most surge suppressor will not power up anymore after the surges.

Does my samsung tv keeping turning itself off because of not having plugged it into a surge protector or is it more a fault with my tv

It is a fault with your power supply module actually inside the tv...take it to a local service center or if its under warranty take it back. surge protectors help prevent issues like this occuring due to damage to the power supply from surges but not having one wont cause these problems unless it has recieved a surge.....in future i would use a surge protector on all your expensive appliances, surges and power fluctuations are very common in mains power i live near the mines and we have power problems all the time!! hope this helps, ben

After a power outage yesterday, my 24" Pure Flat Tube Stereo TV (TTM-2420) is not receiving power. (the glowing light on front of TV is not on and the TV cannot be turned on) I don't know how long power...

Surge protectors are meant to trip whenever an outage occurs to prevent component damage. If possible remove back panel and check if any fuses were burned. If all looks normal then your component is most likely fried.

RCA 36'' TruFlat Model #36F530T

There is a good chance that the failure is in the main power supply.
A second chance is that the set is protecting itself from a failure after the supply; this is more likely to occur in the horizontal section where the highest power consumption occurs.
If the failure is in the supply, it could be a fairly reasonable cost repair. If in the horizontal section, depending on whether the failure is limited to a $10 horizontal output transistor or a bad flyback transformer. The transformer should still be available but with markup, shipping and installation, the cost could exceed the $100 US mark.
Generally, I have been recommending folks repair their old standard definition sets, buy a converter box for digital TV, and not dispose of them since the flat panel sets are dying like flies, often just after the warranty expires.   This would at least provide some kind of set when the expensive LCD or plasma sets go belly up.
