Stuck in Converting Mode

So, when i plug my sansa m240 into my computer, the device is recognized by windows media player and it goes to syncronize the songs i have prechosen. however, when it says 'converting songs' it stops or freezes the conversion at about 18-25%. this has happened several times....im about to give up...i just want to change the songs on my mp3 player...help?

Go to my computer and click on removable disk which is where your mp3 player is at, look through the files ( they are the files you should have on it ) delete them from there.

Device driver m240

Uninstall all Sansa software using the add/remove programs function. Reinstall software from Sansa CD. Then and only then plug the mp3 player into the computer.

Sansa mp3 shaker

I have found that the best way to add and remove music is through my computer. Use two windows - 1 mp3 player and other song location folder.(manipulate folder boxes to have them side by side on monitor).
Once you achieve that, simply drag and drop from one to the other.

I NEED DESPERATE HELP

If Windows Media Player is not recognizing the player, try the volume +/Recovery method and then reformat the player inside Windows Media Player.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

My m240 can't be recognized!

Please make sure that you have your device on MTP mode (auto detect)..Then the computer should be able to recognize it...To make sure its working correctly uninstall it and reinstall it back from the computer..and that should solve the problem..let me know what the outcome..

Stuck in "sandisk initializing screen"

To those that are having problems with the MP3 player not being recognized. With Windows XP there is a little Icon on your Systems Tray that is called the "Safely Remove Harware Icon". Not using this Icon when unpluging MP3''s or zip drives can cause your PC to no longer recognize it. Toshiba Satellite laptops are known for this, others probably have the same problem. The solution here is to install the latest update of the ACPI Flash Bios for the Toshiba Satellite computer. Maybe this is also the problem with other PCs. To prevent these problems allways click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon before removing the MP3 player or any USB flash drive
1 With your m240 set to MSC and connected, go to "My Computer" and "right click" on the "Sansa m240" icon and select "Properties"
2 In that window, select the "Hardware" tab
4. In that "All Disk Drives" window, highlight the "Sansa m240" drive and select "Properties" (at the bottom)
5. In that window, select "Policies"
6. And there, set it to " Optimize for Quick Removal" and click OK and OK again

Sansa m240: 0 MB after wrong firmware update

If your Sansa does not recognize MSC (Mass Storage Class) mode, then your PC will not be able to communicate properly to it. Sandisk can fix it but you will have to email [email protected], to ask them how to proceed from here. Give them the following information: 1) Sansa device model 2) Firmware version on your device 3) What computer OS you have 4) Problem you're experiencing (what you've done) ZT3000 Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"

Hi Nikki. Seems like the Operating System (is it Windows XP?) may have encountered errors loading the native drivers for your player when in MTP mode, or the Windows Media Player version on the PC your plugging your player in is Windows 9 or below. The minimum requirements of the M240 is Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player 10 or above. Falling short of this minimum requirement may cause your player not to be properly recognized. But assuming that the PC you're using the player with meets all the requirements, try to re-load the native driver by plugging your player to the PC and doing the following: Step 1: Right-click on the "My Computer" icon, then select "Manage". This will open the "Computer Management" window. Step 2: Left-click on "Device Manager" If your player is currently in MTP mode, then try this: (1) Left-click in "Windows Portable Device". You should find your M240 indicated there. Check for an error indicator on the left side of that icon. The error indicator would be yellow-colored icons displayed as "!" or "?" (2): Right-click on the M240 and select "Scan for hardware changes" or "uninstall". Both would have the same effect If your player is currently in MSC mode, then try this: (1): Left-click in "Universal Serial Bus Controller". You should find a "Mass Storage Device" there (make sure that the M240 is the only device plugged in to your PC at this time). Check for an error indicator on the left side of that icon. The error indicator would be yellow-colored icons displayed as "!" or "?" (2): Right-click on the "Mass Storage" and select "Scan for hardware changes" or "uninstall". Both would have the same effect Step 3: Unplug your M240 and plug it back in. This would force Windows to re-load the driver. 90-99% of the time, it would re-load the native drivers correctly. I hope this works.
