There's sound but progressive scan mode appears on blue screen. VCR plays wonderfully. Purchased a RF Modulator and S Video and Coaxial and F - Type connectors. Still Progressive scan mode remains. The RF Modulator picks up a signaal because the red light appears. Any suggestions.

We had the same problem with the progressive scan and were VERY frustrated. Holding the stop button down for 5+ sec was great and sold the problem instantly! The kids are no longer upset.

Once the setting for progressive scan output is entered, an image will only be visible on a progressive scan compatible TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan to On in error, you must reset the unit. 1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray. See that ?dISC? is displayed on the display window. 2) Press STOP (9) and hold it for more then five seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and a picture will once again be visible on a conventional analog TV

The Dvd mode does not play a video but plays sound the only thing that shows up is the 'progressive mode screen. The VCR plays fine though

I was trying to program my dvd player and the progressive scan mode appeared. I have tried every button on the remote control and nothing has worked. I even tried unpluggin the dvd player and pluggin it back in, and the problem still remains. I have never had this problem before.

I have a goldstar dvd model # GBV441 I can't get it off of progessive sca mode. I tried to hit stop and hold # 9 but it still won't go away. I did not see a ? mark after stop can you help me?
I had the same problem, looked up my model on the web for the same goldstar gb441 progressive scan blue screen error and voila - holding the stop button for 5 seconds did the trick - thank you very much for posting such valuable information.
