I've only owned this camcorder for a few weeks... I've recorded, viewed, and downloaded footage onto my computer successfully. Then... I had a tape get moderately stuck in the camera (but it was easily coaxed out), after this happened the camera requested that I push the reset button. I did. Now, when I try to playback footage I've shot I get nothing but a blue screen and the camera does not seem to recognize any timecode (it's like the tape is blank, but it's not...). I've also tried to record new footage and it doesn't playback either... It's like the camera thinks the tape is blank or it can't read the tape... Help!

It's possible that the issue is related to a problem with the tape itself, the camcorder's playback mechanism, or the connection between the camcorder and the device you're using to digitize the footage.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Clean the camcorder's playback head: Over time, the playback head on your camcorder can get dirty or clogged, which can cause problems when you're trying to digitize your footage. You can clean the playback head using a cleaning cassette or by using a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol to gently clean the head. Be sure to follow the instructions in your camcorder's manual.
Check the condition of the tape: Your footage may be glitchy or stuttering because of a problem with the tape itself. Check the tape for any damage, such as wrinkles, tears, or warping. If you notice any damage, you may need to try a different tape.
Use a different playback device: It's possible that the issue is related to the connection between your camcorder and the device you're using to digitize the footage. Try using a different device, such as a different computer or a different capture card, to see if that helps.
Check your capture settings: Make sure that the settings on the device you're using to capture the footage are set correctly. Check the resolution, frame rate, and other settings to make sure they match the settings on the camcorder.
Try a different cable: The cable you're using to connect your camcorder to your capture device may be faulty. Try using a different cable to see if that helps.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be worth consulting with a professional technician who can diagnose and repair the issue with your camcorder or provide other troubleshooting options.
Sounds like dirty heads .
If the lines are recorded onto the tape, probaly not.
Try a head cleaning tape in the camera or use another playback device.
If the lines are recorded onto the tape then track down someone with a TBC (timebase corrector) and pipe the signal through that and record to another tape.
Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if a blue screen is displayed when attempting to playback video from the camcorder.
Stop the tape.
Ensure the tape has been rewound to the beginning of the video recording.
Play the tape.
If the issue is not resolved, stop the tape and remove it from the camcorder.
Clean the video heads of the camcorder using a dry head cleaning cassette.IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions for use provided with the head cleaning cassette. It may be necessary to use the head cleaning cassette more than once per session.
Reinsert the tape into the camcorder.
Play the tape.
If the issue is not resolved, stop the tape and remove it from the camcorder.
Insert a different tape with video footage into the camcorder.
Ensure the tape has been rewound to the beginning of the video recording.
You can only view hd footage on hd devices. so if you recorded hd footage onto a tape, you will not be able to view it on a standard def camera, ie the dvx100b. The footage should not be harmed. Now if you are trying to view via p2 card over the firewire, whole new scenario.
the tape most likely has the lock switched on, it's secured so no one can even view it, why it happend, beats me, look at the bottom of the tape, if it has the lock switch, and is pushed up to "lock" push it back down, if that doesn't work than I'm not sure, sorry.
hope this helped- snowsurfer58
To transfer video you need to use firewire, not usb. If you use firewire to connect, set the camera to the 'play' icon and then open up a capture program (ie, movie maker) you should be able to just record/capture from there. Good luck!
-Press ‘Play’ on the camcorder and review the footage on the 2.5” LCD screen
-Connect the DVD-Camcorder to your television using the supplied Audio/Video cables
-Download the file to your PC using the supplied USB 2.0 interface cable(not available on DZMV730A) and view it using a Windows MPEG Player application that supports DVD recording format (.vro file extension).
-Finalize a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc and play it directly through a home DVD player.
HAVING SAME PROBLEM. TRYING TO RECORD... ONLY SHOWS BLUE SCREEN. DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE TIME. TRIED RESETTING... NOTHING.
