Here is a step-by-step article which describes how to install the wireless adapter in Ubunty Edgy.
The download link for the zip file is outdated, but you get it from here.
You don't have to register, there is a link saying "Skip Registration" and the download will start.
Let me know if you have any problems.
Click on "More Apps" and select "Accessories." Click on the "Terminal" link to open the Terminal console.
Navigate to "System" and select "Administration."
Select the "Synaptic Package Manager" and enter "ndiswrapper" as a search term.
Select the files "ndisgtk," "ndiswrapper-utils-1.9" and "ndiswrapper-common" at the results page. Click "Apply" to install "ndiswrapper."
Enter "ndiswrapper --h" into the console to verify that the software is installed. If the installation is successful, you should see a list of command-line options in the console.
Use the "cd" command to navigate to the location of the WG311's drivers (i.e., "cd "WG311v3 V1.0/Driver/[current Windows version]").
Enter "sudo ndiswrapper --i WG311v3.INF" to install the drivers onto Ubuntu.
Verify that the driver was installed by entering "ndiswrapper --l" into the console.
Enter "sudo modprobe ndiswrapper" into the console to install the kernel module.
If the console does not respond to the command, restart the system and enter it again.
Enter "iwconfig" to verify the command's execution.
The command should produce a "wlan0" network interface with a number of details listed. Enter "sudo ndiswrapper --m" to ensure that "ndiswrapper" loads upon startup
