SOURCE: when battery is connected fuel door and trunk open

well for starters there is many factors at play here. 1. battery chargers need to be on and battery disconnected. make sure if it has a timer it did not run out and (the charger may also have an internal fues/ relay ) if it gets too hot it shut off. Was the charger on a high enough setting to compenstate for the drain and is your battery good enough to be charged even. constantly drained batteries will actully not hold a charge after awhile. most parts or even walmart can check batteries free>
The trunk lights and fuel door on the same fuse? otherwise I would say the trunk has a bad switch that is not making contact or is making poor contact and acting as the trunk is open. it may just be pinched wires that rubbed together make contact with your cars steel body. They may be seen in the trunk follow the wires from the release switch and see if it connects anyplace near the fuel door. I am sure it will.

When you press the trunk open button, do you hear any "release" noise come from the trunk area? Do the doors lock and unlock properly? is the vehicle equipped with security or immobilizer? please advise

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

What is a K134 relay for? Check engine light on and fuel door won't open, trunck won't open, and a/c blows hot air.

the K134 relay is a multifunction relay the controls the proper operation of the radio, fuel door, and the trunk. As far as I can tell the A/C is a separate issue and the check engine is most likely related to the relay being bad.

The fuel door that covers the gas cap on the right hand side of a 2003 VW Jetta that my brother owned before he passed away won't open with the control in the driver door. We have to sell the car as...

open the trunk and look around the inside where the fuel filler is-there should be a cable attached to the latch that acts as a manual over ride-if there is none, you will need to carefully pry at the latch to pop it open.
