If you bought the same drive I don't see why you'd have to do anything to the Bios.

  • SSD drives are expensive, you must be BANKED :)

I'm not sure about that but I would think you would have to adjust the bios to AHCI and probably as one of your first steps.

How to Change/Reset a BIOS password Posted on 30 December 2008
Tags: Tech News, Tutorials If you are a normal computer user who has forgot his BIOS password and you are unable to access to your BIOS, then you need a simple way to change your BIOS. Its not that hard because you just need a simple trick to reset your BIOS password.
Open your CPU cabinet after switching OFF the power and then try to locate the CPU battery which can be found very easily. Once you locate your battery you need to remove it once and restart your PC without the battery.

cmos-battery-check.png Note : Once you remove your battery from the mother board, you will find that all your time settings in your computer would be lost, and some softwares may stop working which are based on your computer time.

You need to shut down your PC again and now add back the battery which will enable you the time saving feature and also reset your BIOS password.

SOURCE: my left mouse button on sony vaio vng-nw150j isn't working

Generally, if a mouse button quits working, it requires the replacement of the touchpad assembly.
Boot to the safe mode, see if the button works there, if it doesn't, then it is a failure of the switch in the button

Computer backup. cloned SSD to HD wont boot

It's possible that the issue you're experiencing is due to the fact that the boot order in your BIOS is set to boot from the SSD first, and the cloned hard drive is not being recognized as a bootable device.
One way to fix this would be to change the boot order in your BIOS settings so that the hard drive is listed before the SSD. To do this, you will need to restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup by pressing a key (usually F2, F10, or Del) during the boot process. Once you are in the BIOS setup, you can use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Boot" menu and change the order of the boot devices.
Keep in mind that the specific steps to enter the BIOS and change the boot order may vary depending on your motherboard and BIOS version. You may want to refer to the documentation for your computer or motherboard for more specific instructions.
If you have already tried changing the boot order and are still having trouble booting from the cloned hard drive, there may be other issues at play. For example, the hard drive may not be properly formatted or may have some other problem that is preventing it from booting. You may want to try using a disk utility like Disk Management in Windows to check the status of the hard drive and see if there are any errors that need to be fixed.

I am running an HP xw8400 Workstation. I have already changed the drive from mbr2gpt... AND IT WORKED FINE. Now Inam wondering how to have my bios run this 3tb drive AS A 3TB. Essentially I want to change...

i have working and fully max upgraded xw4600 , sister to yours.
MBR is limited to 2GB,(approx)
the OS must be 64bit, to go GPT,

are you saying to boot from this drive, full system not told
I run SSD as boot drive, 128GB. then drive 2 non boot can be any thing I want in w10 64bit, nobody uses w7, now, it dies, Q1, 2020.

UEFI safe boot needs, OS RELOADED, and to GPT.
and 64bit OS, it is NOT a BIOS issue. but do upgrade BIOS,
UEFI does not own GPT, you can run legacy with GPT, microsoft.com has full pages telling you how to do that.

I have w10 64bit, v1903 on mine. now. runs like champ.
once booted the OS runs the HDD not BIOS, a fact.
when you fresh load w10 64 from ISO the OS installer will set that 3TB as GPT , regardless of BIOS.
try it see.
but SSD drive there booting is always best. even on all my servers.HP and DELL.
you can set up w10 to put all data on drive, E: 3TB
or have 2 partitions there, programfiles and DATA.
then OS owns the SSD, alone.

hope that helps some.

Hello, can anyone explain the right process to move operating system to an SSD?

Some third-party migration software does work! Here I recommend free software AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard. It can move your Windows 10 to the new SSD easily and safely. You can boot from the SSD by changing the order in BIOS.Check the detailed guide following:

How do you install a hard drive

NO PC told (dell has 10000 models)
no OS told, windows what"?
no drive told.
my wild wild guess is the boot drive is locked.
and you are attempting and ******* act. to it.
like deleting key parts of a running OS (windows) (like deleted tires on rims of 85mph moving car, fails)

no real goal told, but the nebular "install HDD"
one can add a 2nd drive easy or any of 1000s of external HDD models or external or internal, SSD or even a thumb drive. (vast) (just 2 steps in fact)
but the boot drive , change out is far far far more complex. and you never not told that.
you want to mess with the C: drive?

now let me guess the real goal (sad I must)
the OS drive windows is failing ( common)

and some lil' bird told you it needs a new boot drive, and then fail to say so here.
okay I will bite.

1: buy a new SSD (hdd fail and are slow)
2: buy a new OS, from MS. or get free w10. (ask how)
3: then put in new SSD,
4: run the w10 installer media (it is free)
5: load w10 to the SSD fresh
6: answer the silly 30 questions it asks.
7: and click activate. (buy it)
