I turned my TV off Sun ( April fools day) & when I tried to turn it back on it would not come back on with the remote or manually. The red power light wont come on either. The power plug is plugged into a power strip with other gadgets that are working. Any suggestions??? PLEASE HELP! Kids are on Spring Break & NO T.V.
If the red light won't come on it is not getting power.First,try plugging it in to a different outlet,or unplug one of the gadgets you know is working and plug the tv in there.You are simply switching.If you know that there is power coming from the outlet and it still won't come on then you'll have to check the cord;don't go much farther than that without expert help.

These set are good for having convergence amps go out, and also audio problems. So if your set had experienced color alignment problems, or sound problems this may tell you what is going on. There are codes for Hitachi, and it's in the LED lights that lights up when you plug in and then hit power button. Some LED lights up and goes off some stay on this tells a tech what is wrong, I use to have code but gotten away from Hitachi, but if you could safely tell me which ones maybe I can help further. Like I said, this set has had many problems with convergence amps going out. There are small fuses on the big board that do not look like the ones in powersupply. They usually say F001 or somthing to that sort. They sometimes can be yellow in color, but the problem is replacing without fixing problem will have it going out again. So hope this helps. and Read the threads here on sets like yours becaus the answer might be here already.

Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

The blinking light tells you what is wrong with the circuit. If it blinks 3 times it is the convergence amplifiler. I had this problem and tried to fix it myself and I don't think that I have it connected good enough. I know this is the problem with mine. I will let you know if this fixes that. Let me see what 5 blinking lites mean. I will tell you what each blink means from the repair manual, 1 blink is +140 circuit, 2 blinks is Low DC, 3 blinks is convergence, 4 blinks is HHS, 5 blinks is IC4011, 6 blinks is IC4018. The 3 blinks is a error code for the convergence circuit. You can get the convergence repair kit for your model at the following link which contains both Convergence ICs and all six feed resistors and they include step by step instructions with pictures that show how to do the repair yourself.
