I have a whirlpool gas range SF387LEGW7, my wife accidentally hit the clean button so she hit cancel. The stove made a few clicking noises by the oven door. She broiled some food then the next day the oven door was locked and will not open. Holding the cancel button gives a error message of E1 F5 I tried to run the clean cycle but nothing happens. On the bake cycle the oven will heat up but the door will not open
My oven door went into the locked position after the oven fried the computer that controls the oven. After the power was turned off, the locked stayed on. Kenmore Oven - We opened the oven door with the coat hanger, but it locks every time we close the door. So, this is not a real solution for our situation. Any more ideas?

Midway through cleaning cycle F6 message appeared and have since been unable to unlock the oven door. I have tried to fix by pressing cancel, turning off the power and by resetting clock. The coat hanger did not work for my E1-F5 door lock problem. But, I did open the back panel of the oven and found the long rod that goes to the front of the oven and forms the locking mechanism. The rod was attached to a small plastic cam that was easily rotated by hand into the unlock position. The oven works normally again though I expect to have the same door lock problem on subsequent auto-clean cycles. But, i'll deal with that when it comes.
CC, first try unplugging the unit for 60 seconds and see if the latch motor will reset itself. E1-F5, latch motor did not unlock. You can get at the latch motor from the rear. It will have a rod that goes to the latch hook in front. Sounds like the motor just did not home after cancelling the clean cycle. If your handy with a meter the latch motor should ohm out at approx 175 ohms. Check the harness to the motor to make sure it's on good. It's possible that the cam assy. on the motor jammed. You may be able to use a coat hanger with a hook on the end and slide it between the door seal and frame, pull to the left and release the door....try this first...Catriver..post back.

Hello, You should be able to push cancel/off and the door should open. If the oven started the clean cycle it may not open till it has reached a certain low tempature, where the door could be opened without the intense heat of the clean cycle burning you

The first step I would recommend you to do is to turn the circuitbreaker on, then set up the oven clock. Start the self clean for anyamount of time, wait about 30 seconds and push the cancel button. Mostof the time it helps to eliminate the problem.

The F90 fault indicates that the maximum time allowed for oven door unlock was exceeded. The control attempted to unlock the door. The door lock motor or mechanism failed to unlock the door within the maximum amount of time it is allowed to be energized by the control board.
It is unlikely that you will be able to reset this fault code. You can try to completely disconnect electrical power and leave it off for 5 minutes. After reconnecting power, the fault code will probably reappear since the control will still detect that the oven door is locked. The only way to clear the fault code is to disassemble the range and repair or reset the oven door lock assembly. You will need a service technician to complete this repair.
the oven door does lock during self clean, otherwise it will not work. however, the door is supposed to unlock after the oven has cooled. if it is still locked, turn the oven to self clean and wait about a minute and then hit cancel and see if the door unlocks. if not, there may be a probelm with the door lock mechanism. Look for a button or sensor which the door would press when closed.
If you find it hold it down for a minute, this should reset the lock
if it doesn't it may do when you let go
I let the door stay open, hold the switch closed with my finger, activated self clean. Let it run for a minute then hit cancel, the stove heating element shut off and the locked door blinked for 5 seconds then finally stopped. Back to normal.
