I hooked my k7 monitor to my computer but when I turned the computer on the screen shows that I have windows but the the screen goes balck with a message saying signal out of range can you please tell what this means
out of range
1: Signal out of range meas the monitor can't handle the input refresh rate. lcd and Tft monitors usually supports 60 and 75Hz refresh rates. 2: The Resolution you are using to view the desktop is too high, this number is depending on the size of the lcd monitor. a 15" lcd usually runs with: 1024x768 with 60hz a 17" lcd usually runs with: 1280x1024 with 60hz some of them supports 75hz. a 19" lcd usually runs with 1600x1200 or higher.
I recommend reading the user manual if you have it, or checking the information on the manufacturer's website.
3: As a solution turn on your computer and after it passes the bios screen press F8 and select VGA mode.
This will enable 640x480 (standard vga) resolution and 60Hz refresh rate, after windows boots up you can change thease nmbers , and windows automatically asks for turning to 800x600 60Hz.
If you want to change the resolution go to: Right click on your desktop, select properties , select settings tab, and adjust the resolution on the bottom of the window.

Hello My Friend, I advised you to install Windows again through a bootable pendrive. You can search on youtube that how can you install windows through pendrive. If it not work then check motherboard. Thanks...
I think you are experiencing something that happens a lot when you change monitors, possibly 'downsizing'? Your graphics settings on your actual PC were set too high for the new, smaller flat-screen, so what you'll have to do is hook it back up to another monitor, even an older CRT-style one, and then do the following steps before hooking it back up to your new 14" LCD:
boot into Windows as usual, but on an older, perhaps larger monitor
right-click on any empty area on your desktop, then left-click on 'Properties' at the bottom of the little pull-down menu that pops up
when 'Display Properties' window comes up, click on the very last tab to the right, labelled ''Settings'
find the 'Screen Resolution' slider bar about two-thirds the way down that window, and adjust the slider control to a more standardized, universal setting, like '800x600', or even '1024x786'. Either of those should work with your new LCD flatscreen.
make sure you click 'OK' on that window, then 'Shut Down' Windows properly (using the Start button, and all that)
disconnect your old monitor, and hook your new one back up. It should work!
This happens a lot. I build HTPCs, so it's even worse the more 'options' you have, believe me.
Hope this helps!
OSD Warning Messages
A warning message may appear on the screen indicating
that the monitor is out of sync range. Cannot
Display This Video Mode
This means that the monitor cannot synchronize
with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. Either the signal is
too high or too low for the monitor to use. See Specifications
for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this monitor.
Recommended mode is 1024x768 @ 60Hz.
Occasionally, no warning message appears, but the
screen is blank. This could also indicate that the monitor is not synchronizing
with the computer or the monitor is in a power save mode.
It could be a cable problem but more likely to be in the power saving settings on either the monitor setup or the computer. Remember when you plug in a different monitor windows knows about it and adjusts the settings to suit. It may be that windows is using the incorrect wakeup signal for that monitor. check you have the correct driver installed.
This issue may occur if the signal from the video adapter
exceeds the scan range of the monitor. The video adapter setting for updating
the screen (the refresh rate) is incompatible with the monitor. you should reinstall your video drivers in safe mode.
To restart in safe mode repeatedly press the F8 key during the computer startup. This will bring a menu where you'll be able to choose safe mode.
Most commonly, this problem is caused by an incorrect refresh rate setting. LCD monitors typically DO NOT support refresh rates higher than 60hz - and this is no exception. Try running the game in "safe mode" if it has one. Adjusting the in-game video settings should solve the problem, just look for a screen refresh rate or any video-related setting with a number followed by "hz". Set it to 60, everything should be fine.
It could also be that at some point the game changes resolution (this frequently occurs if there is an in-game movie or cut-scene). In this case the resolution settings for the in-game movie might be at fault, check them if you can.
The TV you are hooking it to is not able to show the resolution you have the computer set to. Start by setting your computer resolution to 800 x 600. If that works than try 1024 x 768. If you go too high you will get that "out of range" message. The instruction book that came with your TV has a listing of the available resolutions the TV will show.
