The red light turns on automatically after 120 hrs of running to remind us for cleaning the filters. once you cleaned the filters and inserted back , then just keep ac in stand by mode, open the remote panel and press the button on extreme right bottom of the remote ( see carefully in the remote, there is very light image of the filter is made along with the button). red light will go off. no need to press the reset button.... enjoy
what if the red filter light was on for a while and the ac got switched off after a while?

Hitachi window ac red led filter light on - to switch it off - switch on your ac and press the swing button on the right bottom side with three lines below it , it will switch off and the timer for hours as people are saying here 120 hours ll start again. I tried this hope it ll helpful.

1) Clean the filter
2) Click the FILTER button on remote (see attached image)
After 120 hours of work cycle the red light will come on to remind us of cleaning of filters. After one cleans the filters we find it glowing still. The remote has an asymmetric swing button on the inside panel of the remote commander. Putting the AC in standby mode i.e switch off if its on or just power supply on in this mode we have to press the Asymmetric swing button for a couple of seconds. The Red light will be gone and the AC will start is 120 hour countdown again.

Look at your remote carefully. There is a bal pen type push to reset filter button on the remote. Depress the rest button and it should reset. Also on the contol panel you can also reset it by depressing the mode and the UP temp arrow buttons for 5 seconds.

If the power "flickers" and unit fails but will restart once the breaker is reset, this sounds absolutley normal. It is a safety device that keeps the unit from burning up things due to improper power being supplied. As long as resetting puts it back into service with no issues, don't worry about it.

Look real hard on the remote. There is a mini "use a ballpoint pen" push to reset filter button on the remote.
Electronic control panel: (not all models)
Hold the mode button and the Temp Up arrow depressed for about 5 seconds. It should display the temp and the FL should disappear.

i was facing the same issue, you need to open the front cover of your AC remote and need to press the Asymetric swing button, it will work like a charm..enjoy!!
