Pop3 email account connection error

My principle email account has a "connection error". It can be cleared by resetting the system (removing the battery) Emails are received when the initial connection is reestablished but the 2nd time the error message returns.
I am using a POP3 account into an exchange server.

yes - I get connection errors often. It appears the software isn't even trying to take the time to really "connect" when manually asked once the first error occurs. One work around is to turn off phone, and turn phone back on. But that's not a desired action.

You most likely have an error in your pop3 settings exchange server also suppport imap see if you can delete the outlook settings and then create a new connection using the correct pop 3 information or try imap ask your system admin what the imap settings are because pop 3 is no longer used as much

SOURCE: pop3 account set up on htc tytnII

For Blue Yonder, Virgin, NTL you must only put the mailbox name in for the username.
Also, for the outgoing server do not use the blue yonder value unless you are at home. The outgoing server has to match the broadband supplier, unless you have your own website set up for email and most providers will accept this

The issue is: Unable to Send/Receive emails from winThe host 'POP3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'POP3', Protocol: POP3, Port:...

You are receiving this error because of one of two reasons:
1) Your email account is not set up properly. Click on Microsoft Outlook, click on Tools, then Accounts. You will see a window with columns stating Account-Type-Connection. If an account is set up then click on it then click on Properties. Click server tab and you will see the SMTP server block and the POP3 server block. Both of these fields will read as follows: pop.XXXXX.net and smtp.XXXXX.net. Your Internet Service Providers name will be in the XXXX. If these are not set up properly then you cannot connect to send email. If they are filled out correctly then you need to call your Internet Service Provider and inform them of your situation. Their server is not working properly.

Don't forget to 4 star this solution.

0x800ccc0e message With Vista Home Premium

Symptom:
When you try to check or send any email, you get the following error messages:

The host 'pop3.example.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3.example.com Mail Account', Server: 'pop3.example.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Or

The host 'pop3.example.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3.example.com Mail Account', Server: 'pop3.example.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Cause:
  • Problem with internet connection.
  • Incorrect anti-virus or firewall configuration.
  • Message stuck in outbox.
  • Incorrect newsgroup notification setting.

Solution:
  1. Check your Outlook Express settings.
  2. If you cannot get web pages then disconnect your internet connection and reconnect it and try again.
  3. Reboot the computer and try.
  4. Still no luck? Then check your DNS numbers, remove and reinstall your internet connection or TCP/IP.
  5. This error can also appear if you have "notify me if there are any new newsgroups" check box selected but don't have a news account set up.
    • From the menu, go to Tools -> Options -> click on General tab.
    • Uncheck the "notify me if there are any new newsgroups" check box.

Important: If you have an anti-virus program installed on your computer and if you have set the anti-virus program to scan all emails automatically, then you need to change the settings in the anti-virus program to resolve this issue. To do that, you might need to turn off the option where it says "scan your email" or something like that. Refer your anti-virus manual for instructions.
